You should read the Tunisia portal by hitting the word portal above on this page to see if Tunis embassy accepts a joint sponsor /  others from your country may have posted in the portal and talked of this issue

your bigger concern is You are from a dominant Muslim country and when you come to the USA are you and wife intending to live with roommate as the I 864 will expose this

the CO is more than likely going to ask "Why would a muslim man live in same house with a single woman?"  not the norm for your country

and to the delay in processing from last post Tunis is way behind so even when case goes to NVC you will be stuck there for some time waiting for spot to open for an interview / read the US embassy Tunis for the information as posted below along with other important embassy news

While Embassy Tunis aims to process cases as soon as practicable, there is likely to be increased wait times for completing such services due to substantial backlogs

To be completely honest ,  it will be some time before you interview and the best thing your wife could do is to get a second job so her current income would reflect the low low poverty guideline ($21,775) of income needed to sponsor you/  she can work to get you here and if you are lucky to get a visa,  you can then find a job immediately and she can go back to one job.

More important also is how much time have you 2 spent together ?

Have you shown proof your family (especially mother) approves of marriage?

Ages of both?

Can she still have children?

or is that roommate a man?

read carefully what i said she should do

as the income is important

and the 2 of you living in same house with a single person is important at your embassy

she needs more than minimum annual income and if that is gross and not taxable income it is way too low

and many embassies do not want W2,  they want IRS transcripts as that shows the income a person actually lives on

Encourage your wife to join the site as she is one who has to do all the work at this point and she would understand what i mean by taxes and IRS transcripts

there is nothing you can do to hurry up the process

Tunis is much like what we went thru in Morocco at Casablanca

and i spent a month in Tunisia and registered at the Tunis embassy to tour your country staying in Hammemet / going to places like Sousse, Tunis,  Gabes, Nebeul.   This was because i was looking to buy and found a house i liked but then i met my Moroccan husband a month  later when i worked in Morocco

my friend worked in your embassy and that is why i thought to live there so i had all her advice on the country when i visited

The CO may ask why an unrelated acquaintance, whom you've likely never met, would sign on to be your sponsor.  That is atypical.

You can show evidence of your wife's current income by having her send you current payslips.  No need to wait for any W2s.

You don’t need to speak English to get a visa, that’s totally irrelevant to a case.

Exactly my thought. Why would an arbitrary roommate take on the burden of jointly sponsoring an immigrant? Expect to be questioned about this.

If my roommate were also a close friend (not uncommon really), I wouldn't think it was that weird. If one of my close friends were asking me to be a joint sponsor for their fiancé, and I'd had a chance to get a sense of who the fiancé was, I would very seriously consider helping out. Not everyone has family to ask in these situations, after all, and friends can certainly be joint sponsors if they want to.

Maybe, but I would have phrased it as “I asked my close friend” rather than “ I asked my roommate”. The terminology used here certainly doesn’t make it sound like they are close. Anyway - we already know that COs often ask what the relationship of a joint sponsor is, and I am pretty sure that will be the case here.

And I would only ever take on a commitment like that for close family - a child, spouse, parent.  Everyone has a different tolerance for that type of risk.

It makes sense that it is very common for COs to question the relationship between joint sponsor and beneficiary.

Yes, the roommate can be a joint sponsor as long as her income is over 125% of the poverty level.
