I am working on the paperwork to file for adjustment for my wife and i have few questions? First about the medical exam requirements. Since She completed the medical exam at end of may i only need vaccination supplement (I-693A) but this information was taken from her at the embassy so how do i get a another copy? Do i have to request a copy from the hospital where the exam was done or from the embassy? Also since the embassy took all information can they just send a copy to INS here states or do i have to get a copy and submit it?

Any help is appreciated.

Did you have the proper vaccinations in the foreign country, and do you have a copy of the vaccination record? K-visa holders are allowed to enter the USA without first getting vaccinated.

If you don't have a vaccination record or have not been vaccinated, you will need to be tested and/or vaccinated for, Mumps, Measles, Rubella (MMR), Tetanus and diptheria toxoids, and Varicella. You can get vaccinated by a family doctor, local clinic, or health department.

Take vaccination record, or results of tests, to a Civil Surgeon in the area that you ar living and have them transfered to a Vaccination Supplement.

You submit the supplement with I-485, USCIS already has the medical results, they were in the brown envelope.

Also it is a good idea to have the I-485 instructions with you when you visit the Civil Surgeon, so that you can point out that K-visa holders don't need a full medical, just the supplement, the doctors tend to like to do full medical for munch more $$ than just the supplement.

I wish USCIS, and DOS were to insist on vaccination as well as medical be done in the foreign country for the K-Visas, like they do for the immigration visas (CR-1,IR-1). This would stop all the confusion about the supplement.

I'm with you on that! This would alleviate all the mess of dealing with civil surgeons and explaining to them a million times why a full medical is not required on the k1.

Taking the instructions with you to the CS (where it references that only the supplement is required) is not very helpful. I dealt with several that didn't care what the instructions stated. They said "you want me to sign the document, you have to pay full price"

What I wish for is that these CS would get some training in what they are to be doing, and stop trying to rip us off :)

Amen to that!! The ones in my area are in the 'you need the full medical' camp. Idiots.

Thanks everyone for the information.

My wife did have a full medical exam in India before her interview so hopefully she will not have to do that again. Also she was vaccinated in India but the hospital only gave 1 copy of the record which was taken by the embassy so we'll need to get a another copy from the hospital and have it transfered to the correct form here in the US.
