@CanadianInSoCal The officer typically asks for recent paystubs and most recent tax return.

Just looping back to confirm that no, the officer did not ask for this during our interview.

I had brought it just in case - and even offered it - but the officer said it was not necessary and declined to examine or collect it. We were approved at the end of the interview (last week, July 14 2021) and my Green Card is en route to me as we speak.

Congratulations, @CanadianInSoCal !

You know, there is no way to predict what USCIS officers will do. We were asked for most recent paystubs and tax return. I am glad you were prepared and that it worked out for you. :)

Is it really necessary to bring UPDATED I-864 evidence to the interview?  (like a more current tax return, more current pay stubs, more current employment letter...?)

My Notice clearly says to bring a completed I-864 and supporting evidence "(UNLESS ALREADY SUBMITTED)" (added caps for emphasis).

It doesn't say anything, anywhere about updated versions of evidence, if the I-864 was already submitted with evidence (in our case, last October). I'm sure they would be very clear about this on the notice if it was the case.

Hi! Sorry, I haven't been on VJ as much as I was prior to our interview -- definitely needed to take a mental break from USCIS. At any rate, I'm sorry I didn't see this prior to your interview (and congratulations on your approval!! 😁)

I don't think it's absolutely necessary for everyone to bring a completely new/updated I-864 but we had some significant changes to our finances throughout the year so I wanted to be prepared in the event that the officer wanted one. We also wanted to show that our co-sponsors financial situation hadn't changed with COVID, in the event that they were not satisfied with our own finances.

Definitely overkill for the majority of people, but my husband went from being employed to being unemployed as a student, and I went from being unemployed to being the sole earner in our home, so I wanted to make sure our bases were covered ☺️
