I-131 is not necessary if you are not planning to travel.

Since you send only EAd application so you will only get EAD once it is approved. You will not get AP or a combo card since you did not apply for AP.

If you want to travel you can send your AP application now.

Two things will happen if you send AP application now.

Either they will issue you a combo card or let's say if your EAD approved first then they will send you paper based AP. either case it is fine.

I see, thank you! I am planning to travel (and even if I were not, it is always safer to have a travel document!). I am waiting for my attorney's answer, but I do not understand why he did not file the I-131.......!!

yes agree you should always have it. you never know. plus in most cases it is free if you have paid for i-485.

Yes some times lawyers do not want to do it just because it is a extra form for them to fill it out.

you can always send it our your own. I have been sending my own forms.

It’s so weird that my vawa approval notice says B21, but I got my gc BX6. I am confused again… one of them must be wrong….😢

that makes sense, checks out as self-petition spouse of LPR. IB1 is self-petition spouse of citizen

Hi folks,

I am pretty new here and I hope to have some help.

I am concerned about my EAD renewal. My current ead extension(6months extension) will expire next month and I already applied for renewal and my lawyer sent it(EAD +Advance Parole application)to National Benefits Center instead of VSC where my vawa case is. I called USCIS today to expedite and the rep told me to write Vermont center because they can't handle my request. I thought my ead application will be processed by NBC as the receipt number start with MSCxxxxxxxx.

Any recommendation how to expedite this case?or anyone with similar experience and what you did to solve it.

Thanks

Best way is thru your congress office. They can request expedite on your behalf you must sent them the evidence and they will forward to Vermont Service or in your case to NBC.

Hello everyone,

for the interview that you ask the IO to hold the i485 in abeyance, if they do the yes/no questions with you and Don't question you further after the yes/no question is answered, does that mean they are satisfied with your answer ? For example if they ask you a question and you answer but they are not satisfied or think you are lying will they ask you more questions to allow you to further explain yourself in regards to that particular question? Like will they actually give you a chance to explain yourself if your answer doesn't match up with what they have in their files?

Thank you.

Hi! I wasn't asked any question at this interview. My attorney explained the situation ant that was it, really quick. But I guess there is no pre-defined script for the IO to follow! Have you already completed the interview? My I-485 has been held since then (4 months ago), but my attorney says it could be "administratively closed" at any moment, without previous notice, and we won't be advised either that it will be held in abeyance until the end of the process (I think it will, and he says so in order to deter me from travelling!).

I am very confused, here is my situation: I have a combo card (AP/EAD) from my previous I-485 (adjustment of status through spouse) which will expire in Octobre 2021 (+ automatic 180 day extension). Since the AP form (I-131) has to be filed with the I-485, my attorney did not file it (the previous I-485 is being held in abeyance). So what will happen with the AP? Will it expire? Will the combo card be renewed with AP?

So confusing! I have asked my attorney, who is taking forever to answer...

Thanks!

No, you will have to re-apply for AP.  It is not guaranteed that it will be a COMBO card.

Hello everyone.
What visa class is available at the US Embassy with VAWA approval?
I have looked through all the classes of visas, but did not find a suitable one according to the description.
I am doing VAWA from abroad.

You cannot fle I-485 until you arrive back i the US.  Your VAWA approval provides te ability to return to the US.
