What happens if i am travelling with the AP 180 day extension and my new AP/EAD is issued while I am abroad…?

Are you sure the extension letter is for AP?  Isn't it for EAD only?  As far as I know, AP does not get extended.  Only EAD does.  Somebody please correct me if that is not the case.

AP does not have extension. @chancy is correct. Extension only applies to only EAD. Even if you have a combo card, extension will only applies to EAD not AP.

Good point! Thank you for pointing it out, I would not have thought about it... Now I am confused: I have a combo AP/EAD that expires in October. I sent a renewal request in June (I-765); will it also renew the AP?

Oops! So how can I renew the AP?

I see, thank you.

I am very confused, here is my situation: I have a combo card (AP/EAD) from my previous I-485 (adjustment of status through spouse) which will expire in Octobre 2021 (+ automatic 180 day extension). Since the AP form (I-131) has to be filed with the I-485, my attorney did not file it (the previous I-485 is being held in abeyance). So what will happen with the AP? Will it expire? Will the combo card be renewed with AP?

So confusing! I have asked my attorney, who is taking forever to answer...

Thanks!

Filed: AOS (pnd) Country: Romania

I-131 is not necessary if you are not planning to travel.

Since you send only EAd application so you will only get EAD once it is approved. You will not get AP or a combo card since you did not apply for AP.

If you want to travel you can send your AP application now.

Two things will happen if you send AP application now.

Either they will issue you a combo card or let's say if your EAD approved first then they will send you paper based AP. either case it is fine.
