Where did you hear that? Do you know somebody who experienced them calling or visiting in person?

On one hand I don't believe that they have recourses to go around or call people plus of course our abusers are going to lie to put us in trouble... on the other hand I don't know ...

Within the etc…I’ve heard of USCIS calling and visiting homes to confirm any suspicion whatsoever. So yeah they investigate largely. Also I’ve heard of them calling witnesses to confirm facts… do not in any way underestimate them. 👍😕

I don’t think that’s completely true. I have heard that they might contact people regarding the affidavits and such, which does not happen often at all(especially since USCIS is already overwhelmed).

as for talking to abusers regarding the VAWA case, that does not sound right as VAWA cases are confidential.

I mean, anything is possible but I doubt there’s a high chance of them doing such things.

if anyone here can provide more facts, that would be highly appreciated.

USCIS has made visits to confirm that couples applying for Adjustment of Status indeed live together.  Stories have been posted in the AOS forums here over the years.  (Typically, these visits are early in the morning with a quick walk-through.)  I've not personally heard of any such visits in the setting of VAWA.  Maybe Sandra can confirm.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

My cousin applied for asylum, later on he was put in removal proceedings for asylum. After he got married to USC, he went for i130 interview, they asked him to terminate the proceedings first before they can approve his i130. His proceedings were terminated last March 2021 and 3 weeks after USCIS approved his green card. His lawyer told him he can travel to his home country as removal proceedings were terminated. Last June him and his wife travel to his home country easily and came back without any issue. He travelled to his home country with his home country passport (new passport he got from the his am ambassy here in the USA) and his green card because he didn't applied for a travel document based on green card. His trip was great, no complications for his asylum that was in removal, everything were fine

His trip was fine now because one can come and go as they please if they have a greencard. The problem might arise when applying for citizenship,  food for thought...

You make nosense, how can your EAD expired on few months like that?

And the i360 processing time is more than 24 months nowaday. So your case is normal.

No dear they don’t talk to abusers… if you read my post correctly. They however in this particular case called the landlord to confirm residence and even a couple of friends who wrote affidavit to attest to statements from the petitioner. It may not seem pleasant but yeah they do.💁🏻‍♀️

This is true but in the case I mentioned, it happened to a vawa petitioner.. these guys investigate! Though like I pointed out, I haven’t seen or heard of them talking to abusers!🙂

The “abuser” part was directed to whoever commented after you

But that sounds really intense, though, wondering what made them investigate so hard.

oh, and did that happen during the pandemic or before?

It’s still within normal processing times. I have heard couple of October filers  got approved already . So hopefully you should hear from them within couple of month . Have you received any PF at all ?
