Hello all.

My husband is going to file for me very soon. According to the stats on VJ, in the last 360 days, London fares way better than Montreal.

I'm wondering if anyone has filed at the London US Embassy as a PR of another country? Can someone share any threads? (I know the wait times will be way off considering the unique season we're all walking in)

Canada has been backlogged with their CR1/IR1 prior to the coronavirus lockdown in 2020 so I'm hoping (even though London is behind) to select London as my location. I know it is going to be a long wait, regardless where I do my medical & interview, London isn't as far behind as Canada is.

A UKC can interview in London.

So you won’t actually be filing at the London Embassy. You’ll just specify that you will apply in London, but really, your communication will be with USCIS and NVC, which are in the US, until your interview is scheduled. At that point, you’ll need to schedule an interview with the physician in London at least 5 working days prior to your interview date, and then travel to London to have the medical and interview. You shouldn’t have too much trouble on the visa because of this, and based on VJ estimates, it could save you 2-4 months. Worth considering the logistical side of things and how it impacts your move.

Hi we are processing in the London Embassy and just trying to move out (my partner is national of another country although we live in UK). The embassy has a very large visa backlog- for K1s they have not requested any from NVC since they sort of reopened a couple months ago except the plaintiffs of different litigation so we estimate backlog is around 15 months.  There is a big lawsuit only vs. the London embassy and its lack of visa processing.  There is also a problem getting any services for US citizens (which is supposed to be their top priority) - it is much talked about on various American expat facebook groups. I could never get my daughter's US passport renewed having tried for 6 months (as children need an appointment).  However, I don't know the situation for CR1/IR1 category specifically.  The priority for the embassy is that all family visas are supposed to be top but some embassies treat CR1 better.  I recommend you find a facebook group specifically for CR1 in UK and ask around before moving. There are many UK/US families so there should be good data.  I have also found it is not that easy to move between travel ban embassies by the way; we've been trying for almost a month and still aren't clear how long just the transfer will take.   Good luck.

I don't know why I noted filing in London in my post! I meant opting to have medical and interview in London.

Thank you for the clarification in my confusion. Truly appreciate your feedback.
