Friends,

Here is an email I received from VFS about submitting docs in person plus 'Rush Service' to pick up the passport.

1. per this email you can authorize somebody but it is preferred to submit in person. ( I have made arrangements so that my wife will get her medical done and turn in the docs @ VFS )

2. Rush service - Passport is available for pickup "the day it is received from consulate". My next research item is to find out what is that day :-)) Will keep y'all updated.

EMAIL CONTENTS FROM VFS -

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your email.

Kindly note it is required to sumbit your documents at VFS in person. If you not able to submit the documents,you can authourise some other person to submit the documents.

Rush service is an optional service by which you may opt to collect your passport across the counter at the US Visa Application Centre located in the city where you were interviewed on the day that VFS receives the passport from the consulate.

Applicants whose interview was scheduled at the Chennai Consulate may avail of the Rush service between 1600-1700 hours.

Your passport will be handed across the counter on the day it is received from the Consulate. If it is not collected the same evening the passport will be automatically dispatched to you by courier.

There is no additional cost to avail this service

Thanks for the information. Just so everyone knows, my wife submitted all the paperwork at the VFS office in New Delhi. Standard stuff, DS-156 blah blah blah.
