I cook allot and try to learn new recipes. I always feed my first batch of experimental dish to my little brother and if he gives it the green light then I make it for my whole family. LOL He knows hes my kitchen lab rat LOL Im going to miss him when he moves out in Oct. Im going to have to find a new person to feed my expirements to. Sigh

I think I"ll take on a new hobby. Maybe needlepoint or painting something.....I know I will make busy with organizing and cleaning to make room for him when he first comes. Has anyone started collecting their packet 3 materials in advance? I keep organizing, collecting, reorganizing the packet for him to take to the interview with our original documents, photos and other items he will need for the packet 3. Since Im going over at the end of August, I figured I'd just take it to him then. I can mail a final packet of proof of on going relationship right before his interview.

Cooking, maybe i'll try my hand at some Middle Eastern dishes. All I know is his visa can't come to fast!!!

Doodlebug,

jigzone.com is awesome. Thank you. I especially like the part where I can upload photos and make into puzzles and then have HIM do the puzzle. That is cool. Hmmmm...I can think of a few good pics for puzzles....

the best part is you don't lose the pieces!

For me, other then getting online on my usual forums and sites. I have gotten extra job (other then my normal), take some children out that I know for fun, read alot, listen to as much music as I can. I have started sewing this abaya, which I am almost finished with. Shopping, talking to my husband, of course. Gathering educational materials for my daughter. Getting ready for my job in DZ. And attempting somehow to have allmy start-up for the small business I am trying to start in DZ. None of which are sooo interesting but does pass the time.

Let's see...

--I'm experimenting with cooking. Some things come out really good, and some...well, FAIL. We'll leave it at that.

--I take pictures of mundane stuff...like making a pot of coffee or my nightstand, or my eye....before he gets here I'm going to put it all in an album and call it something like "while you were gone". lol

--I got two jobs, one full time and one part time...the full time one is 45 hours a week and the part time one is about 30...

--I'm on VJ a LOT...lol.

--I go to wedding sections of different stores like Walmart and take pictures of different things with my camera phone, then send them to Ramy so we can at least TRY to plan SOMETHING.

--I love how de-clutter is on almost everyone's lists. Ditto. Though since I got two jobs all the efforts I'd made prior to that went out the window because I don't have the time.

Divorced. To hell with him.

OH GOD YES. lol I live in a valley in northeast CT...so when I want to chat for two minutes or have a conversation that isn't all "can you hear me now????" I have to drive to the nearest hill. Sometimes his connection sucks though too.

I "tried" to learn to cook some of his favorite foods (still working on that too!) and I decluttered, cleaned out a dresser for him and started buying him things here and there. We laugh now because we interviewed in Feb and was told he'd have his visa in 6 weeks. I went out and got him some winter things. Next thing I know I'm out getting summer stuff. So much for the 6 weeks! My kids would make pictures for him and every week we would send him a big fat envelope with lots of cards, pictures and artwork for him.

3/4 of our conversations both online and on the phone consist of "what????"

I have to say it was a LOT worse the day he was in Alex. Cairo is a lot better but I still can't hear him half the time, not because of the connection but because between the beeping of the cars and the voices of the people shouting, etc. I can hardly hear a word he says.

Normally he'll go on for about 30 seconds about something that I'm thinking is important and I'll just say "i couldn't hear you but I love you". We'll end up laughing and he'll just say "i love you i love you i love you" and then end it. lol

Yes, we always have issues with DSL connections AND cell connections. Mine was horrible on Sprint....but I changed to Cingular and its MUCH better. Also, we use skype alot. I save 1/2 of the per minute rate over my cell and the connections are usually good. We chat skype to skype alot for free. We hate the connections. Its sooo frustrating. But Alhamdolellah, it won't be forever.

Speaking of weather....how have those SO's that HAVE arrived in the US handled the winters here? My SO thinks he will freeze to death. (I agree) What types of things help with the adjustment to our weather here.

Decluttering seems to be the favorite passtime.

I haven't begun to start to learn any egyptian cooking, however I did find a few Middle Eastern Restaurants in our area. One is a Hookah Cafe and has the best Koshery, Mahshie and Falafal. And the smell of the hookahs brings soo many memories.

What is the most romantic thing anyone as done for their SO from this distance? Or the most unusual thing sent. Ive done the love dedications from www.lovingyou.com and mailed him cookies I made. But thats it so far. He loves Rabbits (I know..sort of weird...but he loves them) and of course football, so I got him a stuffed bunny holding a soccer ball and scented it with my perfume. He LOVES that. And I started writing his mother letters. (Im sure he'll save these for "evidence" for our interview)

I've tried some Egyptian cooking, that's what I'm failing miserably at but I'm getting better and trying to cook like his mom by the time he gets here! hahaha. My biggest problem is currently finding the right ingredients...ok it doesn't taste BAD...but it doesn't taste like what it's supposed to!!!

He lived here in the states for about 2 years (that's when we met! lol) and he used to wear like 4 shirts all year round.

Most romantic? Two days after I got back here I bought the soundtrack for a movie we saw while I was there (Music and Lyrics...lol) and played songs from it for him over the phone. :luv:
