I just got my review (June 10th)!!

However, instead of DQ, had notifications about joint sponsor:

1. Please submit every 2020- W-2/1099 form
2. Please sign and date this by hand in Part 8, Lines 6.a. and 6.b., and replace this form with a new Form I-864 by visiting https://www.uscis.gov/i-864.

3. Please enter XXX name in Part 1 and replace this form with a new Form I-864 by visiting https://www.uscis.gov/i-864.

What does #3 even mean?! We already put in his full name.

Anyway... going to submit 1, 2 as requested (why don't they accept electronic signatures?)

Also, my marriage certificate which was earlier rejected was not even reviewed. (why do they do this? what if there's a problem, will they just wait for the next cycle to alert me? Isn't the joint sponsor an optional thing, so less important than the actual marriage cert zzzz)

Had a serious meltdown but I'm ok now.... finally accepted that I wont' be seeing hubby until closer to Christmas

I have another 6 week wait from tomorrow again, I guess 💔

Joint Sponsor is not optional if your primary sponsor/petitioner income is not enough. In this case Joint Sponsor is important to move forward with you case.

Requires a hand signature, if beneficiary is out of USA, they are not require to sign.

I'd advise you to also submit 2019 W-2 and transcript. They required that form me for my joint sponsor.

If marriage certificate has been rejected, make sure you have the proper marriage certificate from your country.

For example for Bangladesh there are different marriage certificate depending on your religion. For Muslim, it's Nikahnama, not the usual marriage certificate people of other religion have. I had mine rejected too.

So June 10th is actually my 3rd time submitting.. otherwise I would have interview now already -_-

I'm unsure what #3 asking. Did you X the option? i.e petitioner or joint sponsor?

Thanks, good to know about hand signature required for US resident.

My husband's income IS sufficient per guidelines, however, he just moved back in Apr 2021, so he his tax filings 2018-2020 have been for foreign income. Their first message was not indicative if a joint sponsor was required or an option. So I added one "just to be safe."

#3, we stated joint sponsor's full name "first name last name" per ID, so we think maybe it's an error notification? Can just ignore? Or should we switch it to "last name, first name"?

Rgd marriage cert, we had destination wedding, so it's from Denmark (but contains English translation on cert as well). My June 10 update included the apostille page to show authorization by Danish Foreign Affairs, but that update has not been reviewed yet... I just wish they had reviewed it this round so I know if what I submitted is ok.

Hoping your June 10 submission is DQ!! best of luck!! ❤️

Yah for review but so frustrating about the cryptic notes!! Definitely call to clarify everything. His current US income should be fine. Ask about adding recent paystubs for April-July. And ask why marriage cert wasn't reviewed! They might be able to flag it for review earlier. Good luck! I hope everything finally speeds up again at NVC.

Hi, can I ask you about your your marriage certificate that was rejected after your first submission? Ours is from the Netherlands and is also an international version with multiple languages including English. What exactly did they say or ask for when they rejected it? What did you change/add when you resubmitted, just the apostille? Thanks.

At least for the first time in many weeks they have posted a believable date.  If they tell you it will take almost 8 weeks to review your document you get frustrated of course.  But people get 100 times more frustrated when they are told documents submitted weeks after theirs are being reviewed, while their document remains untouched.

yup. tell me about it. How you review a later date while we waiting for months.

Even if you split work between different employees, it shouldn't be more than a day or two differences.

I think if you are from the region, they might not have an issue with it. I read on this forum where an Irish-American couple submitted a Danish cert and was accepted.

Honestly, I think because I"m Singaporean (from Asia) and my husband is American, and we submitted without remarks they were unable to make sense of how the marriage document was issued in Europe? I naively thought that what was accepted by USCIS would naturally be accessible and understandable for NVC (so wrong!)

Here's their error notification:

Please replace this with an acceptable marriage certificate from a correct issuing authority. Please use our Document Finder at https://nvc.state.gov/find for acceptable documents guidelines.

Anyway, when I resubmitted, I added the Apostille page, the email communication with the wedding vendor which included their update that our license to marry in Denmark had been approved by the Danish authority (I don't have the actual gov approval as it is likely in Danish and we signed a power of attorney over to the vendor). Then, when uploading all this, I added the remark that it was a destination wedding. Hope that all that was sufficient for them to accept a Danish marriage cert (rather than Singapore or US). I have no idea why my marriage cert was not reviewed in this round. Instead they merely looked at my joint sponsor documents. So I have no update on whether what I did was correct or not.

Best of luck with yours!

Thank you! Very interesting and helpful to know.
I was also wondering about how NVC does a whole new assessment of the marriage after USCIS already took more than a year to approve the petition. It's like double jeopardy.

Good luck to you too and please do let us know if it gets approved after your updates.
(Btw, I lived in Singapore for 8 years: such an amazing place, still miss it, especially the incredible food! Can't wait to visit again, and show my wife all the amazing parts of the Little Red Dot.)

Will definitely post update so others can have hope for their timeline.

It's so cool that you lived in SG before! I love the city and am partially conflicted about moving esp since this whole immigration process appears to be a performance standard for my destination? :D But the hard part is being separated from my husband for now as his PR for SG was rejected ... so ...

This whole Covid thing makes it harder to travel to see each other in the mean time.

You should def bring your wife to see SG some time! My hubby fell in love with the place during his 3-year stint here.
