Help can I use my house for joint sponsor

Yes, you can use your assets (in this case your property) to fulfil the financial requirement of the I-864. This is not the same as using a joint sponsor - the net value of your assets just needs to be added to your I-864 form and included in the total. The value needs to be at least 3x greater than the difference between your US income and 125% of the federal poverty guideline. You also need to provide evidence of ownership and asset value (property title in your name, recent valuation by a registered valuer, bank statement showing the value of any mortgage, etc).

Sorry to hear you have more to submit after such a long wait!

Check out p. 9 of I-864 instructions here for full details: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864instr.pdf

Ah, ok. Yes, so your daughter's husband can add his assets to his I-864 in the same way by following the instructions (p.9):  https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864instr.pdf

In addition to the mortgage documents he will need to provide a recent property valuation by a registered valuer. This was fairly expensive for us and took a few weeks to get but hopefully it's easier in the US. Good luck!

I'm finally seeing people from June 2nd get reviewed. I definitely don't think the dates they post are accurate. I think they are a good week behind what they post. Which is why they are moving two days at a time. Yesterday was my 7th week waiting (June 3rd) so I'm hoping at least this upcoming week they get through the first week of June!

They were a full 2 weeks behind what their timeframes said, so by moving ahead 2 days at a time, they have cut the discrepancy in half.  I do think you have a really good chance of getting reviewed early next week. Maybe they finally finished with May.

Thank you for updating! Just saw the posts in the other thread about June 2nd submissions getting DQed earlier today. Fingers crossed you hear Monday and with luck I might hear by the end of next week. On the fence about whether or not to call if they pass my date on Monday. I'm guessing they will just continue to crawl to June 8th though.

Hey everyone so I am really confused. I finally got a response from NVC but of course they need more. (June 3rd submission for reference) I am annoyed because they are asking for my 2020 transcript (I did submit my 2020 W2) when i literally only worked for a month. Which is why I have a joint sponsor because I moved to be with my husband in his country so I quit my job. Which brings me to my next issue....They deleted my JS and said they didn't qualify but to add them as my household member. WHY? Because we have the same address? I asked on here before submitting and we had all agreed I864 was correct and not the I864A. I am confused as to why I am adding them as a household member? SO frustrating. Has anyone had luck ordering their tax transcripts online? I got locked out for 24 hours on the IRS website LOL not sure why. Possibly because my W2 has a hyphen in my address and I didn't put that when trying to sign up on the IRS website. Just one stupid thing after another. Any insight on the household member issue would be greatly appreciated!!!

Does the I-864 from your joint sponsor indicate that they have sufficient current income to qualify without combining income with you?  What evidence of the joint sponsor's current income did you submit to NVC?

It is ok for the joint sponsor to have the same address as the primary sponsor.  That would not disqualify them from sponsorship.

If you only submitted your 2020 W2, that is not enough.  That could be why they are asking for your 2020 transcript, which is the preferred tax document.  Alternatively, you need to submit your 1040 and all other schedules, in addition to your W2.  It does not matter how many months you worked for that tax year.  Having a joint sponsor will not waive the requirement for petitioner's tax returns or transcripts.

Thank you for responding because i am panicking. Yes they are over the guidelines so I dont understand why they didn't qualify. This is what the note says...Does not Qualify to be JS - (Their name) does not qualify to be a Joint Sponsor. Please add this person as (My name) Household Member, and submit all of their financial documents under (Their) name.  ....So did they not financially qualify then? I dont currently have an income because I am with my husband in his country and not working. SO now if I add them as a household member doesnt that bring the number of people to 3? The member, myself, and the immigrant?  I dont want to "combine" their income with mine because I dont have one lol The current poverty number is $21,775 yes? For two people? $27,450 for three? They are over both of those. What do I do?
