The time is 4-6 weeks so you are still within that time frame. I think since your check was cashed 3 weeks ago that you have 3 weeks left to be within their timeframe.

My wife came to the US on an F1 visa about 10 years ago.

My timeframe is the same as yours: applied at USPS on 18 June; received notification yesterday that they have received my application and are reviewing it. The email gave a reference number and stated a 12 week processing time, plus another 6 weeks for mailing. They have not cashed my check yet. If I track my application online, it still says there is no information available. (The USPS agent said my application would be processed at the PA office.) Now it's just a waiting game to see how long it really takes.

The 12 weeks consists of 6 weeks processing plus allowing 6 weeks for USPS - explained on the page you linked.  If you pay up for priority mail both sending there and getting passport back (my post office did that automatically actually) it brings it down to pretty close to 6 weeks - mine was already listed as in processing within 3 days after handing it in at USPS.

(For those unaware of OP’s other posts, the actual reason for “application not found” was a name misspelling by the passport agency.)

6 Weeks for USPS??

All passports are returned Prioriy.

Read closer

6 weeks "Mailing" means their mailing to you NOT USPS.

No they’re not all returned priority automatically. You pay for it. Well, for 1-2 day shipping anyway, I don’t know if there is a difference in what you mean by that vs what I do. But clearly there is a difference in practice if you go on the general passport thread and read the different experiences. Those of us who sent priority show up as in process a few days after handing in at Usps, those who don’t take a few weeks. I expect it’s the same on the way back,

How exactly do you differentiate between “mailing” and “Usps”? Or the fact that priority mail takes away the extra time associated with mailing (experience of myself and reported by others )?

How is that helpful?

Lol

Family has applied for 4 passports, before and during the pandemic, which is more the actual point of experience  than post numbers.

By the way, there is a difference between pointing out what the passport agency is saying about mailing times (and yes it is Usps they are talking about) and what it actually is. That said, there is undoubtedly a very big difference in mailing time between those who pay for express priority (I think this is the correct term) and those who go regular mail even with expedited processing - again, posts on the other thread talk about this.

PS the claim of 6 weeks is total, implying it is about 3 weeks each before and after, this seems to be more conservative but not totally out of line with actual experience, some posters reporting around 2 weeks or a little longer to receive  after  mailed out from agency.

Hello,

I recently moved after applying for Passport with my old address. Temporarily staying with family friend. I have forwarded my mails to my new address, at USPS, to commercial private mail box. Question, will my passport be forwarded by USPS to my commercial private mail box?
