Has anyone gotten an interview and tried to extend it one month? How do I do this? Or will they put me back in the queue and it will again be an unknown wait?

You can reschedule.  For Kyiv it's very easy.  We did it last year, but to have it earlier rather than later.

Have the USC petitioner email KyivIV@state.gov.   Include the Case ID number (KEVxxxxxx), the Invoice ID number and the applicant full name.  Also state the original scheduled date and request it to be changed to the new date (1 month later, I assume).

The first response is an automated email with general information about the embassy.  Then about a day or two later you will get a direct message (still from the KyivIV@state.gov email address) with specific information for your request.

For us, the second email stated:

Dear Sir,
As of today we have two open slots for the xxth and xxst August, you may reschedule your wife for above-mentioned dates via GSS

Best Regards,

I had my wife log into the www.ustraveldocs.com/ua website (she already registered an account there) and she saw the 2 dates were available for scheduling and picked one.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the details. I am the Sponsor and maybe if I email them now I can definitely get into for August which is ideal for us. I just don’t want to get screwed and nothing be available for us.

Given all the wackiness that has come from the pandemic over the past year and a half I'd recommend you go ahead and get it done now that you have a concrete interview date. There's no telling what might happen if you attempt to reschedule. Looking back on the rollercoaster of a ride we had during our K-1 process I just don't have much faith in the system. And that was pre-covid times.

If your reason to postpone is due to you wanting to be present for the interview I'll go ahead and tell you it's not necessary and makes absolutely no difference in the decision process. The interview process is super easy so unless you there's some underlying negative history in either yours or your fiance's background you should have nothing to worry about. (Read my review on the interview process). If the reason to postpone is something else then ignore what I just said.

I just don't think it's worth the risk to delay the process any further if you don't have to.

We are about to come up on our due date for the ROC application submittal.

Good luck!
