thank you very much! do i need to contact LAX airport for the cart? I've coordinated PAL with the wheelchair. also filled up a form for AA assistance. Hope that is enough to help her through a lot of stuff.

I appreciate everyone who has helped :)

I would think they would use the cart thing in any case, since she has two large suitcases.  It's good that she has plenty of time before the next flight!

she h as 4 hours before her flight

my mom even when I advised her not to, is bringing 2 big luggages with and she does have a hard time moving around with it, as she gets easily tired with walking (sadly there is no relative that can fly with her). the airline before was already easy enough but since we changed airlines and layovers procedures will be different. and I read PAL has been moved to an area where connecting flights, you would need to walk more and is a bit farther, for her she will find it hard to walk to. I was wondering if there's someone I can call to make sure someone can help her get to the next gate. a wheelchair or cart.

For a wheelchair all she needs to is request one when she need it.  Ask about anyone on the flight or the gate crew and they will get her a wheelchair. You can also have it waiting for her when she boards or unboards the planes

Hello,

so my mom missed her flight.. and the airline we booked with is asking for a crazy amount of money to reschedule the flight. Long story short, she is now flying with PAL.

She is a senior citizen, and we had no problems with the previous airline to request for assistance, as the layover before was Doha. However, this time the layover is LAX, these are my questions:

1. Does she need to collect her baggage when she arrives in LAX? PAL is partnering with American Airlines, so the flight to PHL it will be AA. We booked it all in one ticket.
2. Will LAX be the airport she will get interviewed by immigrations?

Thank you so much in advance.

I have more than once just left my luggage at my POE after coming in from Manila, and they either the airlines or CBP will send it to your final destinaiton.  I have done this on a few trips when I was running late catching my flight from Manila to my final destination in the USA.

American Airlines is going to coordinate her assistance if you request wheelchair .. they will use an electric cart if needed

thank you! I called up PAL and the booking lady said she already put a note for a wheelchair assistance and American Airlines called me this morning to confirm assistance too. AA did say once she lands at LAX there will be one already waiting. I don't really know the visual map in LAX, I vaguely remember it, but hopefully everything will be smooth from here on out for my mom. thank you so much!

PAL always makes a cabin announcement after landing at LAX with instructions for those who have requested wheel chairs.  There is always a big line of wheelchair attendants in the jetway immediately outside the door of the aircraft for every PAL flight landing at LAX.  There has got to be at least 20 or 30 of them every PAL flight.

Here is the latest from PAL on the LAX terminal situation.  It sounds like they will have extra golf carts available.

Little Trick when flying into or out of NAIA Manila.  Since it's usually a zoo and long lines just to get inside the airport, plus the request for travel documentations, the pat downs for explosives, etc and going  thru metal detectors. I will get a wheelchair as soon as i get out out of my ride and request wheelchair, they will take you to the front of the line and wheel you inside the airport.  Also they will wheel you to your check in gate as well.

If landing in Japan catching a connecting flight, you must get off and go thru security where the scan you, check your passport, have her request a wheelchair there as well.
