REGISTERING A MARRIAGE TO US PHILIPPINES EMBASSY

Hello!!

It's been awhile since I last posted, so forgive me if my post is placed in the wrong area. Nevertheless, I felt my question is part of the COVID-19 way all government offices in the both US or abroad are conducting business.

My question:  I am interested in learning has anyone recently or in 2020 had to register their marriage to the Philippines Counsel /Embassy ? If so, what was the process like? And, has anyone married their spouse outside the US, such as Canada, then moved to the US and then had to register in the US?

Thank you..

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

The process sucks in general no matter the time of doing it. As for the last question I don't think that is feasible because you have to do the ROM at Consulate/Embassy that covers the area where you got married

US has no register

You are not required to file ROM it's optional and in my opinion,  a waste of time and energy for the most part.

You have to do the ROM in the country you married.  We did ours in Hong Kong. It is a Filipino requirement if you want to get a new passport in your married name and re-acquire citizenship.

No matter where you marry outside the Philippines there is a specific Philippine consulate or embassy that has consular jurisdiction over marriages that take place in that place.  In our recent example we married in Costa Rica and had to file the Report of Marriage and the Philippine Embassy in Mexico City since that's where you have to do it for a Costa Rica marriage. It is also possible to file the Report of Marriage at the DFA ASEAN office in Manila and they will forward it to the correct consulate or embassy.
