How did you guys meet? Was he incarcerated when you met? Why would you want to marry a convicted criminal? You might make your life harder.... Will he be able to get a decent job and support you? What if he becomes a repeat offender?....

I petitioned a sick Narcissist & Ant-Social PD man to come to the USA, he got arrested and I refused to help him get out of jail. Some red flags should not be ignored.....

I think that's her business . You can't judge all based on your experience....

I know it's her business. I'm not judging, I'm advising, based on experience. I'm looking out for her. I hope it works out for her but she can't say no one here tried to look out for her if she ends up in a terrible situation.

I'm sure the marriage licence won't say proxy. But anyways I've definitely got some good advice here

Aw brilliant!

Your marriage license absolutely does say proxy! We just did double-proxy marriage. It's on our marriage certificate.

I'm sure it depends on individual state law.

No, because the person standing in for you signs their name, not yours. That's not state by state, even with POA you don't sign another persons name, you sign your name FOR the individual. So I'd sign Jess for Lucky Cat.

That's not really for you to question as that's my business. I haven't asked for opinions just advice on the immigration.

you said he is in a Kansas prison (that's Kansas) and you want to marry there as Kansas allows proxy marriages

Ask them for a completed picture. This is likely a case of very specific verbiage being used. It does not say the words 'by proxy' it says 'person A for person B'. You can't legally sign (in cursive writing, like you cannot - sign) another persons signature. You can sign FOR someone. But you sign your own name and indicate it is FOR that other person - and that has to be indicated. Even when Proxy or POA is involved, the POA doesn't become the other person they sign on their behalf. Legal documents require that distinction.

My phone freezes everytime I try to attach an image to explain. But if I'm still not naking sense just let me know.

I should point out I'm recently married by proxy. This isn't theoretical, we have done this.
