Birth Certificate Descrepancy

Hello!

I recently ordered and received my long-form birth certificate which includes both parent's names and places of birth - as it's required to submit with the I-130/I-130A.

However, upon looking at it I realised that my mother did not list my father's name on my birth certificate.

It just lists my mother's full name and birth place. The lines for my father's full name and place of birth are blank (-------------).

So, my question is:

Is this something that will cause USCIS to ask questions?

I know that the I-130A form will ask for my parent's names and dates of birth, etc. - so of course I will put my father's information there.

I cannot put 'UNKNOWN' there because that isn't the truth...

I contacted the Vital Statistics Agency in the issuing province (I live in Canada) and they stated I would have to get a DNA test and court order to have my father added - which seems like a lot of work!

I'm just wondering if USCIS will even care and I don't want to do all that work for nothing... Especially since it isn't my fault!

Thank you for your time!

You don't need your birth certificate for i130/130A but you need to provide their names on the forms.

What about when I have to bring it to the consulate interview and they see my father's name isn't on it?

Do you think that will cause any problems?

No issues for interview unless you are petitioning your father. If there are other documents that lists your father's name like health records or school records, you can have those handy just in cass.

Is your father immigrating?

YMMV

No, my father is not immigrating.

It's just me and my daughter immigrating. My husband is a US citizen sponsoring us.

I just wanted to make sure about the discrepancy before I submit anything - that way no surprises later!

It sounds like it's only an issue if he is immigrating, too! But that's not the case.

I will go ahead and submit everything as is.
