My expedite request was approved by the US embassy in El Salvador on May 19, on May 25 the embassy received the package from NVC and we got an email from the embassy that they were going to communicate within two days to set up the interview date, it has been over two weeks and nothing, we called and were told to be patience, how long does it take to set up the interview after the embassy receives the package from NVC?

Only the embassy will know for sure.  No one here will know more than the embassy does on when they can schedule an interview.

Remember NVC expedite doesn't mean you to go the front of the queue at the embassy, it means you skip the NVC and go to the back of the queue at the embassy (a process which normally takes months).

If you wanted to be at the front of the queue at the embassy you need to submit a second expedite request with the embassy themselves (which may be harder than NVC expedite).

In my case, after my NVC expedite was approved, the embassy gave me an appointment for end of October. It was only after I applied for an embassy interview expedite that I got my interview scheduled for an earlier date.

what is the process to request an expedite interview at the embassy? The reason my expedite request was approved at NVC is because out children start school the first week of august and we would like to be home before school starts.

At some point soon, embassy will direct you to a website to schedule your interview. You will pick a date from a list of available dates (be ready for the next few months to be completely unavailable).

Pick the earliest available date and then (from the same website) send a request for an expedited interview (sometimes called an emergency interview). It is a simple textbox (max 500 words, however it wouldn't let me submit until I brought it down to about 480 words), but you won't be able to upload any documents so be ready to explain everything with just words. You will be asked to give a date for when you want your interview so pick carefully (look at your calendar, take in consideration things like Covid tests if you need to fly to your embassy). Also, mention when you will be entering the US if your visa is approved after the expedited interview (in my case I told them I would be entering the US within 2 weeks, IF accepted).

This type of expedite request can only be submitted once, so give yourself some time to plan it out, check spelling and dates and make sure you explain the situation clearly. Don't assume they will understand it from your perspective.

Wishing you the very best of luck.

Many embassies/consulates do not allow CR1/IR1 applicants to schedule their own interview.  They wait for NVC to schedule them based on the available interview slots provided by the consulate.

Hi,

How long did it take you from the day you submitted the expedite until the approval notice? I emailed mine on June 4th and haven’t heard back yet.
All the best

After your expedite approval,  they have sent the package to the consulate. Did something showed on CEAC, regarding the tracking? Tks

Need Help-

I am permanent resident and started the process in 2014 by submitting I130 for my unmarried daughter and her 3 children (derivative beneficiary).  Two of her children were under the age of 21 when we filed and are now over 21.  The USCIS approved the petition in January 2020 right before the pandemic.  The visa became available in 2021 as well.  I submitted all the required documents by August 2020 and received a notice from the NVC regarding the immigrant Visa Case becoming Documentarily Qualified in October 2020.  March 2021 I received another notice that the case would remain at NVC until there was an appointment available.  On March 5 2021 I sent a request to expedite my case and received an email on March 15 2021 that the US Embassy/Consulate General in SAN SALVADOR, ElSL approved my request based on my grandkids aging out. May 2021 I received packet 4 and did not have an appointment date and only has the primary applicant and one minor child at the bottom.  On the notice it states that if the appointment is not at the bottom to proceed with the instructions.  I've called the Embassy and I get different information each time I call.

1.  There are no appointments available and to keep trying

2. There is an appointment but would not be for all

3. Everyone shows on the report but no appointments

4. We are waiting to add the other two dependents

I sent another request to add the other dependents that they claim are not there and it's been over a month.

Every time I try to log into the website USTRAVELDOCS.com and follow the prompts it says my documents are still at the NVC and to wait.

I was advise by a representative at the embassy to state the I missed an appointment when following the prompts and get the I get a  message that no appointments are available.

My case has been sent to be expedited does anyone know what I can do to get this interview scheduled or are experiencing similar.

Category is F24

Any advise.

Thanks

BREN

I was in the same situation, the children start school next week and even know that my case was approved to be expedite it was sitting at the San Salvador embassy without a date for the interview. I am from California so I wrote a letter to Senator Feinstein, her office called the embassy and my wife got the interview within a couple of days. If you believe that you have a case and the embassy is not working wih you, write your congressman or your senator.

Thanks for the advice.  I wrote the senator with my concern and just like that now I have an appointment for next week at the Embassy.  Now I am stuck because I am unable to get an appointment for the medical exam.  The appointments are being scheduled all the way until end of October for a medical exam.  Does any one know if they do walk ins or how to get an expedited appointment for a medical exam in El Salvador.  Thanks
