Waiting for packet 3 - send out docs + pay visa fee now?

Hi guys

Hope everyone is well.

On May 6, my fiancé received an email saying that the NVC sent our petition to the Frankfurt embassy and we received the new case number.

I've been gathering all the necessary documents now, like the I-134 + supporting documents from my fiancé, and I've submitted the DS-160 as well.

Unfortunately I still haven't received the letter/P3 with the checklist from Frankfurt. However, when I log into CEAC with the new case number, it's in status "READY".

Could I go ahead now, and pay the fee on ustraveldocs and send out all the documents (I-134 etc.) to Frankfurt, even though I haven't received the packet 3 letter?

I hope I make sense.

Many thanks in advance.

Email the embassy and ask them what next steps should be. I am not sure about Germany, but in Belgium I didn't have to send anything except the DS-160 confirmation page and it was electronically. Be careful with what you mail to them.

When was the case status last updated?

Hi @JulijaKC, thanks for the quick reply. :) the case was last updated on June 4, 2021. And I believe in Germany we have to send the DS160 confirmation page, affidavit (+ supporting documents), police report, birth certificates etc.. and I think also a confirmation that I have paid the fee on ustraveldocs (?)

What do you mean by being careful with what I mail them? 😮

06/04 is a good sign. I would definitely email them to ask what is the next step. Maybe they sent you a letter with instructions? This is what happened in my case.

And sorry, didn't mean to scare you, I just meant that don't send them anything they don't ask you to send. I was surprised to learn that in Belgium I only have to email the DS-160 confirmation and the rest I have to actually bring, because I already prepared some docs to send before the interview 😅

Also, meant to say it's 100% country specific. So I really hope someone from Germany can be more concrete and clear  😃

😃

Shouldn't have been surprised, as this is the process for all but a handful of consulates

YMMV

Well, I am just talking about my experience. I read a lot about K-1 visa and expect everything since there is barely any info about Belgium 😉

Same situation! Updated, ready, and now confused as the process has lasted too long or at least longer than usual due to covid and petitions are expiring now but everything was supposed to be extended automatically...based on what I was told by NVC. Quite overwhelming. Any new updates on your case?

Hi @MB19 About the expiration dates: my I-797/approved I-129f expired like a week ago. I asked the consulate about it a few days prior the expiration and they replied that I can simply extend the validity of the petition at the time of my interview, so I take it will be enough to bring a new letter of intend to marry with me. :)

Unfortunately I didn't receive any updates on my case. I emailed the consulate and asked about the next steps, so I hope they will get back to me soon. I will keep you posted.
