that your wife got her GC.

You don't need AP if you have a GC.

I had heard that it is easier to re-enter the country with a travel passport rather than a foreign(in this case Turkish) passport and a green card. No?

A green card means you are a permanent resident of the US, which would be easier than a foreign passport.

Your GC nullifies the AP & EAD as well.

Who exactly told you this? Entering with a Passport and a Green Card will work fine, regardless of where the passport is from.

I really can't remember who said this, but the feeling seemed to be that you received less hassle at re-entry points with a travel passport(is this an "AP' THAT PEOPLE ARE QUOTING?WHAT IS AN "AP")

Never heard of anything called a "travel passport" before. Just forget about it. Passport and Green Card will get you into the USA no problem.

Yes, that is advance parole. Its totally irrelevant if you have a Green Card. As for it being "Easier to enter" with AP than a Green Card, I would say its actually the opposite way around. People can get denied entry with Advance Parole, and even when you do enter, your legal status here is not the same as if you entered on a Green Card (you are paroled into the USA as opposed to admitted).

Just forget about AP. Your wife has a Green Card, Green Card + Passport (of any nationality) is the 2nd easiest thing to use to get into the USA other than a US Passport, and she's not eligible for one of those for a while.

blueidbill,

There are several different types of travel document that can be applied for using form I-131. What travel document is it that you have in mind?

Yodrak

How long does it take to get a travel document and what date should I put in in reference to "intended date of travel"Is it much easier to re-enter with this document rather than a foreign passport with green card? Thanks.

I think it woul dbe a re-entry permit. My wife is convinced she be less hassled if she is coming back in with some sort of United States documnet rather than a green card and a passport from Turkey.True? NO? I really dont want to spend $170 if it is unecessary.thanks

blueidbill,

A green card is a sort of United States document.

A re-entry permit is for LPRs who will be out of the USA for more than 1 year but less than 2 years, so that they will not lose their LPR status and be denied re-entry due to time away. (Although they can still lose their LPR status for other reasons.)
