Doesn’t sound like the OP was/is even aware that this is potentially a much larger problem for them than just a USCIS home visit.

Yep.  Home visits are just a symptom.

The first thing your lawyer should do is file a FOIA and get your husbands file to see what youre up against and whats in that file that bothers USCIS.

Personally, I wouldn't waste money on a lawyer to file a FOIA. I've filed one before with DoS and it is super easy. They guide you through the process on their website: https://foia.state.gov/Request/Visa.aspx

How long did it take, in this case facts seem to be known.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Somebody else filed the papers for him in Dominican Republic.. at the visa interview they asked him if he was married in wich he replied he was in a  “ free union” wich is basically like a common law marriage(usually to get Heath insurance for the girlfriend & kids) except you are not married nor get a marriage certificate.. you go through a lawyer and it’s usually broken by the same lawyer.. I don’t know if you can understand what I’m trying to explain lol.. mind you he got his tourist visa 4 years before me & at that time he was in a relationship with his sons mother and they were living together. I will keep everybody posted .. this has been a roller coaster!

UPDATE: after reading all the responses wich i am grateful for.. I got overwhelmed and decided to forget about the post. I continued to pray but as everyone stated this case was heading in the wrong way and we prepared ourselves for the worst. This type of cases are really complicated,Long and money consuming! We hired a lawyer in February and he told us all we can do is wait. He did not want to go in and ask about our case because he was afraid that might trigger a bad response so we were okay with waiting for a response since our status never changed from interview was scheduled (august 2020). The visit from the officers in may kind of shocked us and we were ready to face anything but full of fear at the same time. August 18,2021 our status changed from “interview was scheduled” to “ new card being produced”. I was in SHOCK ! We called our lawyer but he was on vacation. Next day it changed to “ case approved “ and the I-130 also changed to “ case approved”. Next day it changed to “ card was mailed to you”. Lawyer called and stated he has never seen this happen and to wait for a letter to see if everything was legit and the system wasn’t making any errors.. well today august 25,2021 we got approval notices and GREEN CARD ! A MIRACLE ! GOD IS GOOD. Another good news is that lawyer will give back most of the money since he didn’t have to do anything.. we are still shocked but OH SO GRATEFUL. don’t lose faith .. pray, be good to everyone .. GOD WILL ANSWER !

good luck everyone
