Currently processing immigrant visa for me but I have F1 visa interview

My maternal uncle (mother's brother) is a US citizen and has filed an immigrant application for my mum. My mum being the principal applicant included my name as an accompany for the immigrant visa, So I have technically applied for the immigrant visa. We are documentarily qualified and have filled the DS-260 immigrant form and  still in the documentation stage of the process. I have been admitted to a US school for my graduate program and in the process of getting my f1 visa. In the DS-160 (F1 visa) form, A question says "Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services? " Do I pick yes or no in this case (yes because my mum being the principal applicant included my name as an accompany; No - because my mum is the principal applicant and was the initial applicant) . What do I do in this case and does the current immigrant visa processing affect my chance of getting my f1 visa, is it something I should be bothered about?. I am over 21 years of age and from my research, adult children of immigrant visa applicants are most likely not qualify for an immigrant visa. What do I do in this case? I'd appreciate some advice. Thank you

The answer is "Yes".  Someone has filed an immigration petition on your behalf....  F-1s are non-immigrant visas. One condition of getting an F-1 visa is that you must convince the IO that you will return to your country after your education.  You have shown immigrant intent.  It could affect the chances for the F-1.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Okay. Thanks for the response. With this kind of circumstance, any tips to boost my chances of getting the f1 visa at the interview do I just give up on it?

I would not give up on it.  You could possibly withdraw the DS-260.  The Immigration Officer will make the decision after the interview.  Good luck.

@SusieQQQ, what say you?

Have you looked at your CSPA age? You may still qualify for the immigrant visa.

For F1, yes it all depends on the CO. In general you and your parent have shown the immigrant intent that could hamper F1 visa.

This means you have demonstrated immigrant intent, and if you’re at this stage probably not too far from a visa being available. I’d think you might face problems at interview, depending on CO. I wouldn’t ask to withdraw the ds260 if you actually want a green card, which will also make your studies easier. You do need to check CSPA. If you are not much over 21 chances are you are protected.
