Hi friends,

I was hoping I could get some help on the I-130 I am trying to complete for my Dad. Background: Im a naturalized US citizen. My father held a B2 visa and we had during one of his trips in 2016 decided to apply for AoS (I130-I485 filed) However due to personal reasons, we had to withdraw the application, which we did and received confirmation on. He has not been to the US since 2016. We are now trying to restart the application process and I wanted to go the consular processing route. I am trying to fill out the online application and ran into some questions:

  1. What is the beneficiary's A-number? We were about 2 months into the application when we cancelled it so there was mention of the A-number on the receipts. I entered that number (is that ok?)
  2. Was the beneficiary EVER in the US? - I replied yes along with his Passport Number
  3. What is the beneficiary's Travel Document - Not sure what I should respond for this - Are they looking for the B2 Visa he held? Since the question is "What IS travel doc?" technically he doesnt have one because he's not in the US? Am I right?
  4. The questions about class of admission, etc seem to be pertinent to people who are currently in the US? So I left them blank

Any other tips / guidance or information based on past experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

  1. What is the beneficiary's A-number? We were about 2 months into the application when we cancelled it so there was mention of the A-number on the receipts. I entered that number (is that ok?) - You need to double check this. I think the A-number on the receipt is the petitioner's A-number, and not beneficiary's A-number. So, if the beneficiary doesn't have an A-number just leave it blank.
  2. Was the beneficiary EVER in the US? - I replied yes along with his Passport Number - This is ok
  3. What is the beneficiary's Travel Document - Not sure what I should respond for this - Are they looking for the B2 Visa he held? Since the question is "What IS travel doc?" technically he doesnt have one because he's not in the US? Am I right? - I think you can put is passport info here
  4. The questions about class of admission, etc seem to be pertinent to people who are currently in the US? So I left them blank - Ok

Any other tips / guidance or information based on past experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!
