I 485 denied without an interview or RFE

My brother filed form I-130 and I 485 marriage based on September 2020,on may 19th he received the RFE for form I-130 and he has to respond before august 15,2021,but on June 2,2021 his online account for form I 485 changed from fingerprints applied to case was denied!!!!!!!no interview or RFE no NOID has been received before denial!!!!!!we are waiting for the denial letter to come in and see what’s going on,can anyone explain what’s happening??????????

IMO only, the I-485 may be in a denied state until the I-130 RFE is handled so regardless of the 485, I would answer the RFE as quickly as possible and that may clear everything up.
