Police certificate after interview

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I was unable to find an existing post.

My fiancée is Japanese but spent a year in Canada a couple of years ago.  We received our NOA2 in March but our case took a while to get to the Japanese consulate.  As soon as we received notice that the consulate had obtained the packet (early May), we started compiling documents, including her police certificate from Canada.  We also scheduled an interview just before the 120-day expiration date.

 

The issue is that although we submitted all documents required to obtain a Canadian police certificate, the documents took quite a long time to get to Canada and the police certificate agency is saying that it could take another month for the certificate to arrive in Japan.  That is very close to our interview date.  My question is:  is it possible to submit the police certificate to the consulate after the interview or should we go ahead and reschedule the interview (and deal with having to ask for an extension for our NOA2)?

I think you will get the 221(g) (I am not sure if this is the right one though) and will have to provide the police certificate after the interview.
