What you are asking is exactly why chat screenshots are not bonafide evidence.

For twenty bucks you can screenshot with anybody.  Lose ‘em.  If they wanted your chats they’d list them

Then what do you think of this? (Attached)

What I think:  Never needed ‘em.  Ever.  I’ve filed a LOT of stuff.  Where is that on here?

Are screenshot of chats from various months useful?

Only if you have nothing more substantial to submit.

Better to focus on quality evidence of time spent together in person and of tying your financial lives together -- e.g. joint lease agreement, joint bank accounts, shared credit cards, insurance beneficiary listing.

@Joe30, we included text messages since the time we met and also chats from the dating site where we found each other. We were mostly trying to show longevity. We married after dating for 1 year and 2 months.

We are also a same sex couple with an age difference of 16 years. Both of us are people of color, too. All that said, we wanted to show evidence since the time our relationship started. My spouse also moved in with me before we married and I added him to my car insurance probably 3 months after we started dating. What can I say? the guy loved driving my car and I figured it'd be best to add him. That was probably the first evidence of joint responsibilities.

You may add anything that you feel shows the officer the nature of your relationship. If you are filing right after you get married, it is always a good idea to show evidence since the time you met - even if that evidence is not a living will or health care directive (and it would be strange to have those before you get married). You do not want USCIS thinking that you met on Monday, married on Wednesday and filed for AOS on Friday all within the same week.

I would definitely make sure that you have the basics - a joint lease, joint checking account, joint savings, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401k and name each other as beneficiaries, joint credit cards or name your spouse as authorized user on the accounts. Get a target debit card. It's free, it's easy and you can each get one and use it. Then, show transactions from both cards.
