Sounds like he got the acknowledgement and now the wait for PD

Would the acknowledgement have a blue highlight. There is a blue highlight on 2 of the paper.

I asked to see the letter and he says he'll video call me later.

No idea, let us know what he has done.

Do a Google images search for NOA1 I130. You’ll see samples of what the receipt notice should look like.

So we had a talk. The petition was done 2016 he says. He was told that we would have been there from October last year but was postponed due to covid.

There is no way you can move to the US with just an approved petition.  You need to apply for a visa first and you personally need to go to the embassy/consulate for the visa interview.

I’m not sure if he is purposely being obtuse (judging by what you said earlier this is possible) or if he just has no real idea how this all works.

First, So that YOU know how it works, please examine this site. You will see the diagram of steps at the top (you can link to pages that explain each step). All of those steps have to be completed before you can get a visa.  At best it sounds like you are step 2, you need to reach step 11 to get a visa …. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition.html

Second. 2016 priority dates are not current for interview yet. That means Covid or no Covid, even right now you would not be able to get a visa and it could still be another couple of years before one is available to you - in the attached (updated monthly), your priority date needs to be earlier than the one shown for category F1 in table A for there to be a visa available for you. It is currently only at Nov 2014. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2021/visa-bulletin-for-july-2021.html it is absolutely nonsense that you would have been there last year if not for covid

So my dad petition me from 2016. He recently contacted me to say it was approved and that I should get passports for me and mg children. I have a 6 month old whose birth certificate was never submitted. I have no visa for anyone and I want to know if if is likely that I will have to leave the baby or I can carry him without z passport to the embassy. I don't know the fmbadsy date as yet tho

I'm also not sure what else you expect people to say.  You were given plenty of advice in your other thread on this topic --

Yeah but did you stop to notice that this question was very specific? But ok

Based on the background information you shared in your other thread, you were already told that it is very unlikely that you will get scheduled for a visa interview anytime soon.  If your case is actually F1 or F2B category, you still have years to sort out the paperwork for your baby before you even get an interview date.
