Hello!

I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar situation.

I (U.S. Citizen) am sponsoring my parents for their Adjustment of Status.  We applied in August 202, and their local field office is in Fort Myers, Florida.

Earlier this year, they received the RFE for the i944, we responded to it with screenshots indicating that it was no longer required per the USCIS website. This was sent and received Nebraska Service Center.

Recently, I received notification that both their I-130s had been approved, and we just got an RFIE for the i693, Medical Evaluation.  The return address is for the Memphis Field office in Tennessee.  I can only think of two possible scenarios:

1. Even though their local field office is in Fort Myers, their case has been assigned to the Memphis office due to backlog in Fort Myers. (Memphis is pretty far though, so I’m sure a closer office could have been assigned)

2. Because it is AOS for my parents, the i693 is being requested via mail because they may be eligible for an approval without an interview.

Have any of you had a similar situation?

@Rangm021, as you said, it is likely USCIS transferred the file to Memphis due to a backlog in Fort Myers. I would just respond to the RFIE with the I-693 promptly. Were they intending on interviewing your parents, they would have issue a I-693 deficiency letter asking them to bring the I-693 to the interview. USCIS waives interviews for parents of USCIS quite often. My mother got her green card by mail - no interview.

I do. My lawyer said that there is a possibility of interview to be waived.

No news regarding I765 and I131 that are outside of normal processing time.
