Hi Guys,

Along with other documentation and evidence, I want to add affidavits to the packet

my question is, how much weight does it hold? Is it seen as valuable? How many is good to add?

Very little.   It is desperation evidence

YMMV

Agree with @payxibka.  Affidavits are weak, and of very little value.

Really? I would have thought it'd hold some value...

another question...

how much evidence is "sufficient"?

based on a semi-simple case.

The best evidence you can provide is that of time actually spent together....along with legal documents normally generated during a marriage.  Financial and property mingling is also good evidence.

@Joe30 affidavits are not great evidence. Though, if you do not have other evidence, then, of course, resort to affidavits. Between sworn and notarized, I would opt for notarized, but even then, they do not carry that much weight.

I would, instead, invest time in preparing a Health Advance Directive. I would get it, of course, notarized. Here is a link to some examples. https://www.aarp.org/caregiving/financial-legal/free-printable-advance-directives/

The devil is in the details. Make sure the address on your IDs match. Your lease should be on both names. Show longevity. Include a timeline of your relationship. There are a lot of examples on this site. For AOS, we even included print outs of our USPS Informed Delivery account to show that we have unrestricted access to each other's mail.

Make sure you add each other as emergency contact at work, at your doctor's office, at your kids school.

I-751 Joint Filing.

06-15-2021 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken.

05-26-2021 - Received NOA/extension letter. Notice date and postmarked 05-20-2021.

05-23-2021 - Received text message with Receipt #. YSC Potomac Center.

05-21-2021 - Checks cashed (processing on joint checking account)

05-07-2021 - I-751 received in Arizona.

Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

05-07-2019 - AOS Approved. Resident since date 05/07/2019.

05-06-2019 - AOS Interview

04-23-2018 - "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview"

03-16-2018 - Priority Date.

How much is generally enough?

Expand

There's no defined threshold.  It depends on the USCIS adjudicator.  Key is to submit a variety of quality evidence, like the examples other posters suggested.  No need to clutter your package with evidence of little value, unless you really have no other evidence to submit.
