Not sure who you mean.  If you mean Trump, I believe he lost the election and now we are stuck with an idiot and his 'hilarious" VeeP.

That is a factual statement.  You cannot.

What's the actual point here? I could just as easily wave any criticism of AOC, Sanders, Harris away, or any number of liberals who are mentioned frequently on these boards as "living rent free" in y'alls heads. But it has no substance. Might as well just post a meme and be done with it.

Well, just my opinion, I think the majority of us on the right have similar opinions of Trump.  To some degree we feel that he did some good things regarding policy but he would have done a lot better if he got off twitter and acted like a normal person.  We also understand that he lost the election, he is not getting reinstated and we've moved on.  Regarding politics, we are looking at the 2022 elections and also thinking about who will be the nominee for President in 2024.  We aren't thinking about Trump at all.

But there are some here who hate Trump so much that they continue to bring him up.  Trump is brought by those who hate him far more than those who voted for him.  That's the popular TDS.

The difference between AOC, Sanders, and others is that they are relevant.  Trump is not.  Sure he has those who are obsessed with him, both supporter and haters, but the rest of us have moved on.

Personally, I am fine with the elite leaders of the Democrats embracing the likes of AOC, Sanders, Harris.  I always love a good experiment, this one will be a good one.  That being said, pointing out media hypocrisy is something that is required as someone needs to hold the media's feet to the fire.

But again... you often mention that Trump is living rent free in our heads. But the normal liberal bugaboos keep showing up in your posts all the time. So I'm trying to understand what makes it rent free if I discuss Trump, but not rent free when you do it for the other side?

I propose we just agree that the "rent free in your head" argument is unnecessarily antagonistic on both sides and we just let it die on the vine.

I wish more Republicans/conservatives held your view. It's sensible and addresses the fact that despite what his hardcore supporters would have you believe, the man (while you may like his political leanings) is an unhinged narcissist.

Trump certainly is relevant. He is still the de facto leader of the Republican Party, he is still in the news, he continues to feed speculation on him running again, and he just gave a major speech at a Republican convention less than a week ago. How is he no longer relevant political conversation? I mean, if I were a Republican/conservative, yeah I'd want to stop talking about him too, out of sheer embarrassment that he in any way represents me. But unfortunately he is still relevant to political conversation.

Why do we keep seeing thread started about Trump?  Just another excuse to label some as Trumpers, Trumpians, Trumpkins?  As the other poster stated, Trump is not relevant to DC policy now, and may be only slightly relevant to a future election, but that is more than a year away.  I realize that most DC types immediately start thinking of their next election when they get sworn in, but otherwise, this discussion is just a moot point.  Maybe start a thread (I realize you did not start this one) about negative things you think about Biden, add you criticisms, etc., and it might be more credible that blanket passes are not there.

Trump literally gave a major speech at an RNC convention less than a week ago. He is on Fox News constantly. He constantly teases runs for president in 2024, and in one instance he was even very open to a House run in 2022.

Shall we just shut down every post and thread about anyone after they've been out of office for, say, six months? The Hillary Clinton haters here are not going to like that.

There are a lot of people that speak or are on TV that are irrelevant.  He can tease all he wants to stay in the limelight which is what he wants, doesn't mean he is relevant at all, but I expect the Left/MSM/Dems want to keep him there.

I suspect you are right that the left/MSM/Dems want to keep him front and center. And for good reason. He is the leader of the Republican Party. He is very possibly the next Republican candidate for President. And he is the man that 70% of the Republican Party has hung their hat on. "Trump is no longer relevant, stop talking about him" is the weirdest, most disjointed argument I've ever seen on VJ, and I've been here for an age.

And it's not like the MSM has to work at keeping him in the news. The man cannot shut his mouth. He's got to weigh in on everything. He just gave a speech at a RNC convention. This is not Jimmy Carter just doing his own thing behind the scenes. This is a man who is actively working to stay front and center in the news. How is he not worth discussing?

But I can see why you wouldn't want him front and center. The man is a disaster and an embarrassment to the Republican Party. I'd want him to quietly go away too.
