 My enitre nightmare started once Embassy in Cairo put their hands on my case. I filed petition with California center my petition was approved and forwarded to Cairo. They received my paperwork in November 2006. My fiance received all packets completed them and mail them back in a short lenght of time. He received appoinment for interview in the month of January 2007 stating he had a appointment. He gets to the Embassy and he gets interviewed by a female staff who compliments my fiance on his attire and his good looks later this female staff asks him if he really loves me. My fiance' replies Yesss! My fiance stated this female continues to flirt asking him if he had many girlfriends and how he look like a playboy. at this point my fiance' was upset. She continued with her behavior then took his passport told him it will be 2 weeks he will receive the visa. we waited no visa I contacted embassy inquiring about the visa and my fiance' passport . They told me they had no record of his visit nor taking his passport. At that point I demanded to talk with the ambassador they denied transferring me and ask if I can call back and they will see what was going on with our case. later they found the passport never owned up to losing it just stated it was on the desk with their files.

they then later told me my fiance' paperwork was listed under tourist visa. I asked how if you read his name and his prints that you scan at the Embassy door you would know he was listed as Fiance' visa not anything else. they didnt answer. he receive a fiance interview on March 2007 which he was told he was approved for visa said it will take 2 weeks now its been 4 months. I call to ask for answers my fiance' under Administrating processing . I continue to call and call n write because I will not be pushed around by anyone. I located information of entities that people can contact if you have a compaint against Consular Section. If you will like the info email me kexia@yahoo.com

Certain countries have longer processing and Administrative Processing or Administrative Review is common from this consulate. You cannot get anyone from congressman, senator or attorney to help expedite this process. AP and AR are considered a matter of National Security and all checks must be cleared completely before a visa can be ajudicated. Sorry to hear your still in AR/AP but if you look at Cairo embassy there is a list of applicants enduring this processing as well. Islamabad also has a long AR/AP processing time and my husband was in AP for 5 months and the ongoing time now is 6-9 months without a common name or longer if you have a common name, traveled etensively, or your schooling or job. Research Cairo statistics and hope your processing is finished soon.

Something doesn't make sense....did the beneficiary also apply for a tourist visa, paralell to the K-1 visa application? Perhaps the initial interview in January, 07 was for that tourist visa? Then the interview in March was actually for the K-1? Or during his initial January, a 221(g) letter was issued which requested more info? Did your fiancee receive anything from the consulate upon the conclusion of his initial interview in January, a letter w/ further explanation....instructions? If no, how did you go about getting a new interview for March? Why did the consulate say they will re-interview your fiance in March? Usually a decision is made after one interview....or upon the first interview they are not satisfied...ask for more info and once that is provided a second interview is granted.

I agree, that keeping the passport upon the first interview is certainly strange....but not necessarily something out of the ordinary. Perhaps you can give a little further clarification on your situation, so we can help you.

As stated by other posters....Administrative Review(AR) of several months is not uncommon in some cases, so if that is what your fiance's application was placed on in March....you're now in your 4th month of AR...again, not uncommon.

Good luck!
