You should fill out the DS-160 when the consulate tells you to. Wait for their instructions. NOA2 validity can be extended up to a year in 4 month increments. You can email the consulate when and if the time comes that you’re still pursuing your application.

our NVC status is "ready" alredy and have the case number in hand. though we have not received the embassy email . the question is i would like to fill out the DS-160 first but i might need to extend the NOV 2 valid time to a year because my fiance is planning to come to my country and we would go back to states together. however due to currently covid situation, he is not able to travel yet .

So if you were estimating to have an interview in august, how are you going to extend anything? Once you get the visa you have 6 months from the date of the medical exam to enter the US.

When you look at Taiwan consulate reviews here on VJ, it says the consulate will contact you with Packet 3 instructions (including filling out DS-160). If you’re not in a rush to have an interview, what’s the point of filling it out?

Just figure to finish some of the documentation first so would not have be the rush later. thank you for your advise!
