Hi Folks!

I am in preparing the i751 for my wife to remove the conditions on her Green Card and I had some questions in regards to the process.

Hope you guys can help me out, thanks!

  1. Is a cover letter required or helpful? If so, is there a template of some sort?
  2. Is the following evidence that we have gathered so far sufficient?
    • Copy of wife's GC
    • Joint Bank Statements (2 months)
    • Joint Credit Card Statements (2 months)
    • Lease
    • Car Insurance with both names
    • Internet bill in wife's name (1 month)
    • Utility bill in my name (1 month)
    • Photos together and with her family
      • Do I need to write dates or anything behind the photos?
  3. I live in the state of Washington. Where am I supposed to send the form/evidence to?
  4. Is a check/money order the only form of payment that is accepted? If so, do I need 2 checks/money orders ($595 for filing fee and another $85 for biometrics) or can it be one check/money order $680?

These are my main questions so far and hope to get some good advice from you folks! Thanks!

Also, another question! If there are some questions on the i751 form that do not apply, such as "Preparer's Mailing Address" or "Other Names Used" do I need to write N/A in every single box so there is nothing that is not filled in or can I just leave it blank?

I left everything blank which did not apply.

Also you will need to provide "proof/evidence" from the date you are married. Not just the last two months. Also since that time period is 2 years, you don't need to send in every monthly statement or such. You just need to show continuity that you are living together, "share things" etc

  • Joint Credit Card Statements (2 months)

You should send in all transactions over the whole marriage, monthly or quarterly statements. USCIS want to see the transaction both income and spending of commingling of money. USCIS is looking for details not just summary account information; include all pages in statements and bills.

You should include Joint Tax returns OR better yet joint tax transcripts for each year of your marriage. You can download your tax transcripts from the IRS webpage. USCIS prefers IRS tax transcripts as they prove you actually filed taxes returns.

Include W2 and 1099 for each year of the marriage for each of you; they shows employment/income and the address living at as your address is typically on each.

Include state issued ID; driver licenses or sate IDs for each of you with common address.

You need complete information throughout the marriage, do not skimp on financial information provide bills, bank statements, and financial documents  generated throughout the marriage as much as possible.

Rule of thumb: send every paper that has both names on it since the start of the marriage

Our package is about 500 pages

So generally how many pages is the whole packet supposed to be?

There is no limit but you need as many pages of evidence as your case needs to prove good faith marriage, a hundred plus pages of evidence is not uncommon many i751 packets measure more than an inch tall.

If you need 200 pages in a two inch tall stack of evidence that would be just fine with good relevant evidence,

We have our old addresses on our driver licenses so that wouldn't work right?

Yes as long as they are the same address at the same time and are part of your narrative on where you have lived during marrage.

You can consider updating your address with DMV and provide both sets of diver licenses.

Not required, but helpful for USCIS. You can outline your marriage narrative, like where you have lived during marriage, and any special circumstances like living with family or attending school. You can list the all the evidence included in the i751 package.

There are some templates online for you to use for your cover letter.

Also go to the USCIS webpage for the i751 form, there are complete instructions, current addresses to mail the i751 package to, the fees required, list of good faith mariage proof, and the current i751 form required to be used.

Just sent in our package a week ago, 528 pages, each one numbered with a table of contents to make it easy for the officers to find what they are looking for.  We didn't do a cover letter, the Table of Contents is pretty clear.  Good luck!

Hey Naganda!

1. Cover letter isn't required but very helpful to the officer going through all the stuff you're sending in.

2. Credit card statements and the bank statements must cover everything from the adjustment of status to the removal of condition

3. Where to send

https://www.uscis.gov/i-751-direct-filing-addresses

4. Utility bills preferred to be in both of your names

5. You better write on the back of the pictures (olace/date/names of the people mentioned on that picture/relationship to you or your spouse

6. You don't need to send 2 checks, one with both fees enough, you can also pay with the credit card by filling out and attaching it to the top of your I751 application the form called G1450 (credit card authorization form)

Now, you have no taxes together which is extremely important, you also don't have affidavits (sworn and notarized) to your relationship from friends and family, which is required,

hope it helps and sorry for the mess

I sent 327 pages

As long as both of you have the same address on your driver's license it's okay,

If just one of you it's a problem,

You also can go to DMV and change your address to the new one

proof of bonafide marriage for the form i-751 is never limited

The less evidence you send, the more chances you will be called for a joint interview.

Photos together and with her family

  • Do I need to write dates or anything behind the photos?

Yes, caption where and when it was taken with identity of who was in the photo.

Examples, your spouse with mother-in-law, at Christmas Dec 24th 2020, family with pic 03/xx/2019 at easter with bother sister nieces & nephew (include names and relationship).

I printed photos out with PowerPoint arranging up to three images on a page with captions of who was in the photos printed on a single 11 by 8.5 inch page. Each page was an event like family get-together, vacation together, and holiday gathering. With a large family reunion photo I printed it on one letter sized page with all 20+ family members identified on the page with location date and time.

I submitted everything on an 8.5 by 11 inch sheet of paper even if was a single small copy something like a set of diver’s license, membership cards, using a scanner but you could use a camera if you get good clean images.

I only submitted single side copies no information on the back of anything. USCIS scans everything so not possible to connect the info on one side to a document with the other. I don’t believe they keep the original documents submitted but use electronic file to move from office to office.

1.  I did a cover letter just to feel better, but it isn't required.

2.  All of that is good evidence. Submit as much as you can, anything that outlines your marriage and shows a bona fide relationship l.

3.  I live in Washington too.  I sent mine to Phoenix, as directed on the USCIS website.

4.  I did a money order with combined payment.  I did hear about couples submitting separate payments due to the possibility of their biometrics getting waived.

200% agree!!!!

I bought an album, printed out 100 pictures put them together (like a family album) and below signed all dates/events/names/relationship under each photo
