Consistent evidence can become redundant and that's the nature of it. You do not want them wondering if there are transactions that you do not want them to see.

My thought process (and how I did mine) was they want to see the joint part of the bank account, not every transaction I made for 2 years. So if I had a joint account Jan 2019 and the same account number Nov 2019, Sept 2020, and June 2021; and the balances vary, meaning it’s not an account that sits at $250 for 2 years, then it is safe to assume I had that account for the whole time. I didn’t open an account and then close it and reopen 10 months later, then close, repeat. I tend to be somewhat minimalist in that I think 16 pages shows we share a bank account as well as 96 pages. And when you stuff that much redundancy in an application, the other good evidence you have can get lost in the mess.

I always imagine an officer going to pick the next file to review. It’s 4 inches thick. He thinks “Hmmm...it’s almost lunch time and I don’t want to start that huge file from Ms.J. I’ll just skip it for now and go to Mr. Wuozopo’s succinct less than 1 inch thick file and knock it out and get to lunch on time”. 😂🤣 (And he continues to push that bloated file aside for a week or two.)

We all think differently, but I did get approved with only four bank statements for one bank account. I also cut paper by not sending credit card statements. We put his and her credit cards side by side on the copier—-5 different sets, two by two. They showed the exact same account number with my name and wife’s name side by side. One sheet of paper showed 5 major credit cards we shared. (I did put some white tape blocking the middle numbers for security purposes). They need to know I share accounts with my wife, not all my business about where we spend our money.

I appreciate your sharing your thought process, @Wuozopo, but I was't questioning it or discrediting it either. I typically respond to questions by tagging OP.

Like you said we all think differently. :) My understanding is that USCIS does want to see the transactions and how you commingle. My understanding is also that they want to see all statements since the date of the marriage, so we sent all. If you understood something different and that worked, that's great.

We all have different circumstances. We are a same sex couple and both are people of color - like user Sukie said on a different thread "we did not want any problems or questions".  Had our AOS been denied, my husband and I would not have the option of moving to Malaysia and living a peaceful and persecution-free life there. So we sent everything we could for AOS, the I-751 and will do the same for the N-400 when the time comes. That will always be my recommendation to anyone - to send a comprehensive package with as much as evidence as they may have to support the fact that it is a bona fide marriage, as the instructions state.

I know that. I was just throwing out a viewpoint that’s different from what is passed down in these forums. I tend to follow my gut after reading USCIS instructions a dozen times. I understand you have societal challenges many of us will never face and you want to be super thorough. Makes perfect sense. Best of luck to you. 👍

I didn’t send Tax Transcripts. I sent 1040s and my W2 only. We also do not have joint bank accounts or have any bills. We included a letter explaining why and didn’t receive RFE about it.
Send whatever you have, but if you don’t, it is what it is. Good luck!
