Hello everyone,

I am trying to connect with fellow members who have applied for CR1 and have been transferred from Baghdad to Abu Dhabi, my case was documentary qualified in july 2020 but my case is still at NVC, while reading posts on here I have found out that many applications have been scheduled for interviews that were DQ'ed after my case but it seems all these applications were not transferred to Abu Dhabi like mine.

I just need to know if that is normal for transferred applications and if I need to take action, it has been almost 2 years since I sent my i-30 (priority date oct 2019) and its getting really hard to wait and my wife has been crazy lonely in Baghdad, just looking for some hope on this site.

good luck everyone

I know of some folks that have May 2020 DQ and are still waiting for IL in Abu Dhabi. While UAE residents with DQ in 2021 have gotten IL. It appears that NVC still schedules only UAE residents for interview. It’s tough for Iraqis to get a visit visa to UAE at the moment so if you have that, send a photo to NVC via public inquiry form and ask to be scheduled since your DQ is much older than the current DQ in line with NVC.

It is very dangerous in Baghdad right now. Since it has been two years I would recommend consulting with lawyer about writ of Mandamus.
I wish your wife the best and Inshallah she will be safe.

Thank you for your reply and your wishes , I will consider consulting a lawyer

So this is something that is happening to Iraqis who have been transferred, this is so sad and unfair.

do you think sending a photo from this site to NVC will actually do something for me, they always answer in a generic manner.

do you know if i request to transfer my case to turkey I would have a better chance? And will I lose my spot in the line if I do that?

It is unfair. Sadly Iraqis and Iranis have to deal with it currently :(

We went through Amman (transferred from Abu Dhabi) - horrible embassy, I don’t recommend it. In my personal ranking probably the second worse consular section currently right after Cairo.

I don’t think screenshots from a forum will do anything for you. Do you have the visit visa that you can travel to UAE if they schedule you? That will be your best supporting document.

Ankara currently only interviews residents of Turkey. Some Iraqis temporarily move to Turkey, acquire residency there, and then email the residence card to the embassy and NVC to request a transfer. A transfer while residing in Iraq won’t help you at all, unfortunately: https://tr.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/

there have been cases where NVC issued a new DQ letter after transfer, however these are too rare to know if this actually does anything to the spot in line. Since Iraqis are skipped based on DQ date anyways I imagine it doesn’t have any impact but I have no data to back that up.

Thank you for your reply it is much appreciated I needed someone to tell me I am not alone in this, I am currently thinking about having my wife go to turkey and get a resident card and then transfer the case because i made a decision if by the end of the year nothing happens i will move with my wife to turkey to live there while we are waiting for the interview because tbh we are in a tough situation and we can’t be apart any longer

again thanks for the reply.

No worries and you are not alone in this. Feel free to join my fb group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/332749100243009/

It’s a general group for immigration questions that I’m running with 5 other admins but we have one pinned post with approx 50 Iraqis waiting for interview. I’m checking with a law firm if there’s a violation of the INA that would reasonate a lawsuit but it takes long with FOIA requests etc to even get to the bottom of what the DOS is doing…

Hello, I'm in the same situation. My wife is In Iraq and her case was moved to Abu Dhabi. The case has been DQ since October 2020. I know a guy here that went through the same situation and had his interview In abu dhabi in October of 2020. Also Baghdad is apparently back open, my friend just got his i130 approved and it was sent to baghdad. For me I think its too risky to transfer because I've been waiting for so long

Baghdad is not open. All Iraqis get Baghdad numbers first, then they are transferred to one of 3 Embassies.
