Hi everyone, I am sorry that I don't know where to ask my question so post here..

I just got my green card 1 month ago, I also got an offer from an univeristy at Toronto for a 2 years speical nursing program (sept 2007 to June 2009). I planed to return US during my winter holiday and summer holiday, so actually I will be out of US about 8 months per year. My firends suggested to apply re-entry permit for security.

I read I-131 form instruction very carefully and here I have a few questions:

1. Am I qualified to appy a re-entry permit (I just got GC 1 month, is this a problem?)

2. I-131 form says that "If you will stay out of US less than 1 year then you do not need apply re-entry permit". because I will come back actually every 4 months and probably in many holidays back home in US, do I have to apply?

3. Do I have to submit one copy of my offer letter when I send my I-131 application for reentry permit to USCIS?

Thank you very much!!!!

You don't need an entry permit. Your green card constitutes the only travel document you need along with a valid passport.

That is normally true, but Phily is talking about spending most of the next two years outside of the US. I don't know enough about it to say that they definitely need to try to get it, but if I were Phily I would be pretty nervous spending that much time out of the US without a safeguard.
