How long did it take you to fill out and mail? [merged threads]

Hey guys, to the people who have filed:

 

How long did it take you to fill out, gather and then finally mail out all forms (130,485, etc etc).

 

I am trying to set aside some time so trying to get an idea! Thanks!!!

Filing out the forms did not take that long. Gathering and organizing the evidence of bona fide marriage is what took the longest, actually. Make sure you triple check everything.

About a month for me. Gathering evidence definitely took uo most of that. Take your time though, you don‘t want to miss anything and make sure you use the correct version of the forms, they just updated them

If B2 visa holder files 485, can they fill out and send 765 with it? To get a SSN?

I-130 and I-864 are filled-out by the US citizen, and the rest of the forms by the immigrant. In general, send the following four packets (*note that I-765 and I-131 packets are optional, but highly recommended) in the same envelope to the Chicago Lockbox:

• I-130 with I-130A and copy of marriage certificate, filing fees, etc.;
• I-485 with I-864 and supporting documents, electronic I-94 copy, filing fees, etc.;

It is advisable to send both an I-765 and an I-131 and all supporting documentation with the I-485 package.  Many people have failed to send them, but regretted it later.

Leave them blank unless they apply to you.
