Hi guys, my interview is Tuesday, I’m almost married 2 years with my husband now :) but I’m just nervous for the interview, we met in 2018 on Tinder, I’m just nervous for the questions that are coming regarding how we met, is it going to be weird that we met online and is it going to be an issue? I would just love some input here and also some advice maybe from people who went through the same thing :)

thank you in advance !

It's not weird.  Consul officers understand that relationships starting online is becoming mainstream.  What will matter more to the CO is your evidence of bona fide relationship after meeting online.  Like how much time you spent together in person and how you've commingled your finances.  At the interview, if you're asked about how you met, state simply that you started your relationship on Tinder, then focus more on the circumstances of your actual in-person meeting.

Not an issues at all. In fact, if I had to guess, I would say that the vast majority of members on this site have met their partner online in one form of another.

If you have evidence of time spent together and being in an established relationship, meeting online is not a problem.

Meetings do not occur online.

You found each other online.

What matters is the time spent together since you found each other.

Also keep a copy of the Tinder terms and conditions handy in case there is an IMBRA question.

btw,

Humans started dating in the 18th century and it predates the Republic.

Computer  dating services have been around since 1959, since  before most of us were born.

You lived together for a year. You're good.

We met on Tinder too. No questions asked.

I also met my husband on Tinder and they didn't asked me about it. Just relax and remember that the interview is about the truth is not about anyone opinion about the way you met each other.

@Ariaren, I met my husband on a gay dating app. You have nothing to worry about. By now, the department of state/embassies/consulates are likely used to adjudicating cases of people who met online.

We even included screenshots of our chats. You don't have to, but we did.

Your story is your story - embrace it. Hopefully, you will have been married for 2 years by the time your interview comes. That way you will get the 10 year green card.

Best wishes on your journey.

I-751 Joint Filing.

06-15-2021 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken.

05-26-2021 - Received NOA/extension letter. Notice date and postmarked 05-20-2021.

05-23-2021 - Received text message with Receipt #. YSC Potomac Center.

05-21-2021 - Checks cashed (processing on joint checking account)

05-07-2021 - I-751 received in Arizona.

Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

05-07-2019 - AOS Approved. Resident since date 05/07/2019.

05-06-2019 - AOS Interview

04-23-2018 - "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview"

03-16-2018 - Priority Date.

@Ariaren, I am sure it will go well. Actually, now that I think of it, what matters is when you enter the US. If you enter it on or after the 28th, then you will get the 10 year green card. :)

I’m still confused on that.. because people say that you have to have your interview after your 2nd wedding anniversary  to get your 10 year not entering I thought..
