NVC Received vs Left

On this site there is a distinction of NVC received vs left. I'm curious what this is, since my letter says that I will only be sent mail once the NVC has sent my letter to the Embassy. So how are people getting two notifications of received vs left? And also if you're past the NVC stage I'm curious how long it took to be sent to the embassy for you personally after NOA2. Thanks

Covid had changed everything.   Nothing is predictable. Some have been waiting more than a year.

People are calling to get the embassy case number and then tracking on ceac.gov

I called NVC about 3 and a half weeks after receiving my NOA2 to get my NVC case number and invoice number. About a week after that, my NVC case status changed from "At NVC" to "In Transit" and then "Ready."

People find out the receive date by either calling NVC or checking CEAC online.

If only official notices and documents are used, there would just be the following information available:

  • NOA1 date
  • NOA2 date
  • NVC sent date
  • Consulate email date for Packet 3
  • Visa issue date
  • POE entry date

All other information is manually collected by noting when you sent the application, checking status on CEAC, using the DHL hack to see when the diplomatic package arrived at the consulate, when you scheduled the medical and interview, etc.  This information is helpful to notice patterns and trends in addition to the default notices.
