So random question from the interviews thread to the K1 people - for those of you who are stuck, DQ ages ago but no interviews, are your cases showing as having left NVC in the CEAC tracker?

Let me help you with something you may not be clear on. DQ (documentarily qualified) is a spouse visa (IR1/CR1) term. They send /upload documents to the NVC. That’s marriage certificate, police certificate, affidavit of support, tax returns, etc.  plus pay for the visa. Once NVC checks all those for completeness and accuracy, the IR1/CR1s are considered DQ and await NVC to assign them an interview.

A K1 doesn’t DQ at NVC because there are no documents submitted to NVC. And a K1 doesn’t wait for NVC to give them an interview. K1s schedule their own interview date when the embassy receives the case file. The reason the K1s are stuck at NVC is because the embassy shut down March 2020 for covid, then when London reopened, K1s weren’t being allowed interviews. So the NVC just stored them until K1 interviews in London were allowed again.

oh that sounds promising - did you actually get a letter from the embassy or did you just wait for the tracker to go to 'ready' state and then just start making arrangements yourself?

You can wait on a letter from the embassy which will tell you to go on their website to find your instructions. I already gave you a link to those instructions so if you want to get started sooner, there is nothing holding you back. You do not need that letter from the embassy for anything. You never have to show it to anybody. It mostly tells you how to find the instructions on their website. And it will tell you your new LNDXXXXXXXXX case number, which you already know.

It’s very important to get all your documents in hand before you make an interview appointment or medical appointment. You need the police certificate for the medical and your shot record and medical summary from your GP. The embassy website instruction pages give you a list of everything you need to have to take to the interview.

So just had my interview today, was ok in the end.  I picked the 9AM slot, so there wasnt much queueing.

They asked for my passport, invitation letter, birth certificate, police certificates, affidavit of support and letter of intent to marry.  My original I-797 was only valid until August 15th, so per the guidance I had my partner print off an updated copy and send it over.  They didnt ask for the I-797 or anything related to the original I-129F.

They asked specifically for the I-134 affidavit of support and then either payslips or a tax document to support it - I had her payslips and a bank statement demonstrating her savings.  They didn't ask for any evidence of my own savings or income, even though I assume I could have used them my partner was unable to provide them.  Odd that the UK embassy site says the I-134 is for guidance only, so I guess they have some discretion with various forms of evidence here.

The first part was just gathering my documents, I am directed to sit back down, and then ten minutes later I talk to a second person, who just asked me some basic questions about how I met my partner, what we're planning to do for our wedding, and not a whole lot else.  He was able to tell me it had been approved at the counter, and that I will get a notification in a few days to pick it up. They only asked for one of the two photos I brought with me, and didnt ask me for any of the copies I made.  I had two of basically everything.  Even the instructions page wasn't asked for, even though they specifically tell you to print it.  You need the DS-160 to get in the building.

I was in and out of the building in not much more than 30 minutes, everything was pretty simple in the end.  Thanks to everyone on this board and in particular @Wuozopo!

Thank you and congratulations on a successful day. Your experience continues to bear out what Others say about London K1 interviews—

  • no tax return required if you have other proof of income like payslips or employer letter.
  • only one passport photo needed, which they scan and give back
  • no photocopies of documents needed
  • no copies of the I-129f package or NOA2 needed
  • questions asked are general and easy
  • no additional relationship evidence needed, no photo albums, engagement ring receipts, trips, chats, etc.

You should have your visa by the end of the week if they continue to move as quickly as they have been. Sounds like you opted to pick it up at the courier depot rather than have delivered to your home.

Interviewed yesterday in the 10 am slot. Got there stupidly early, waited at that café (District) right near the South Pavilion entrance for a bit. Went to line up at 9:40 but there was no queue at all, and I had the exact same experience as @Boss and Potato, same questions even - although my instruction page and passport was used to get into the building not the DS-160. In fact I never had to show my DS-160 at all. I would also add that I did my medical the day before since it wasn't feasible for me to go to London a week apart and they seemed to have no problem with that. Was told that I'd been approved on the spot (although technically it was a 221(g) pending medical results). I was in and out of the building in even less time - actually came out at like 10:03.

got the email notification that my passport was with the courier on thursday, went and picked it up this morning, so 3 days from interview to picking up my passport from the depot.  not bad.

Hi everyone! My fiancé's application has been at the London embassy for almost two months now (after being stuck at NVC for over 7 months)😞. Status on CEAC says "Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. ...

Anyone else in the same boat? And how're you coping LOL

Surely you have all your documents ready for the medical (police certificate, shot record, Primary Care Record from  your GP office) and interview (all your civil documents plus fiancé’s affidavit of support I-134) since you’ve been waiting around two months after your case arrived in London. So just log in and schedule your interview at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv

The appointments are kinda scarce so you might have to log in often hoping to find one pop up and beat the others who are doing the same. November dates should populate this week.

Here’s the instructions for doing that copied from the embassy webpage

  • Select “I have received a letter from the consular section with instructions to register or schedule a K visa appointment”;
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to register an account;
    • If you have children applying under your case number, you may “add” applicants to your account after you have added your own details.
  • You will be asked to select your delivery method for the return of your passport if your visa application is successful. Delivery to a courier depot is free. If you wish to upgrade to home/office delivery you can pay an additional fee through your account;
  • Pay the MRV application fee;
  • You will then be offered the first available interview date, but you may choose any available date. Note: You may schedule an appointment to take place after the petition expiration date, provided that you bring to your interview a signed letter from your petitioner confirming that you both remain legally free to marry and that you will marry within 90 days of your arrival in the United States.
  • Please go to “Print Instructions” in order to print your courier confirmation page.You must bring this with you on the day of the visa interview.

You don’t actually need that letter of instruction from the embassy, which is mainly to tell you where to look online to find your instructions.. You could have moved on 2 months ago.  Just choose “I have received a letter from the consular section with instructions to register or schedule a K visa appointment” even if you haven’t gotten the letter. Again, not needed to show anybody..

Anyone who's been for their interview recently able to give some insight as to how long the NOA2-interview part of the process took for you?

I need to give around 3 months notice for work before I leave, so i'm trying to plan in advance for when I should do so. Currently we're expecting NOA2 sometime between late-Dec to mid-Jan (presuming the latter for the sake of not getting hopes up), and figured if I handed my notice in basically when we get the NOA2, meaning i'd leave work mid-April, that'd probably fall in line with when to expect my interview. Does three months from NOA2-interview sound right for those of you who've had a relatively recent NOA2/interview? I don't mind if it doesn't match up exactly and I have a bit of time between leaving work/moving out to the US, just trying to ballpark it so I don't hand in my notice way too soon and end up sat around for months when I could still be working. (This is all provided COVID doesn't rear its head again and we end up back under some kind of restrictions)

@nghsbf

Just my opinion—

There’s so many things that can go wrong that you can’t predict, it wouldn’t be wise to quit your day job too soon. When you are notified by NVC that your case has been sent to London would be a better time to think about giving notice.

When you get NOA2 is when you should hustle and get your police certificate, immunizations, medical summary, the proper birth certificate, checked your passport for expiry, I -134 from fiancé, etc. NVC could keep your file for a couple of months before sending to London.  Keep working, you:ll need the money.
