Question on updating children’s last name on GC/naturalization (split topic)

Hello everyone. Please I do have a question and hopefully someone out here will have the answer. Am a us citizen and during my naturalization process I applied for a change of last name which was successfully done. My son is still with a green card and is below 10yrs of age. Am trying to get his certificate of naturalization but he still has my old last name on his green card. The question here is this: how do I go about making sure the certificate that will be issued to him bears my newly changed last name? Do I go to the court first to change the name or what? Please I need your urgent advice. Thanks and patiencely awaiting a response from you all.

You need to petition a state court to legally change your child's name.  Then you submit the name change court order when you apply for a US passport and/or N-600 for your child.
