I agree. It’s best to get a co-sponsor.

Okay thank you I’ve just read so many things on uscis and embassy website that it’s confusing me. They probably will request and affidavit of support at the interview stage since my fiancé has no assets or income in the US

So I just read on the embassy website that a affidavit of support may be needed at the nvc stage. My fiancé and I both live in Ireland together . He filed his American taxes for 2020 this year. My question is would we be able to use his tax return as proof of income for the affidavit of support even though it’s foreign income?

K-1s do not submit documents to the NVC at all.

Yes, they definitely will.  It will be the I-134 form.  The I-864 will be required for you to adjust status.

You will want to have an eligible joint sponsor lined up if your fiance is unable to demonstrate US-based income or qualifying assets.  Many USCs return to the US ahead of the intending immigrant in order to find work so that they are eligible to sponsor an immigrant.

Is a job offer of the same nature of work that he does in Ireland sufficient and if not if we got a joint sponsor say one of his family members will I be able to change the sponcor from them to my fiancé at the adjustment of status stage?

Only if it is an offer to relocate to a US-based office of the same company that your fiance works for right now.  If the job offer is from a different company, it won't be evidence of current income to qualify as sponsor.

Your petitioner will always be your primary sponsor, whether they currently have the financial means or not.  When you adjust status, you may have a joint sponsor different from the co-sponsor you had for the K1 visa interview.  Or if your spouse-to-be has enough income in the US by the time you file for adjustment, you do not need to have a joint sponsor at all.

Just so you are not clear, you need to bring two  affidavit of supports, one from your fiance and one from the joint sponsor (two i134s) to the K1 visa interview. You can worry about adjustment of status later but for now you need to deal with getting joint sponsor for the interview.

A job offer is not evidence of current income.
