Is another medical required for Green Card interview?

Hello all,

My wife's Green Card interview is scheduled for next month. She was a K-1 Fiancé who entered the U.S. in March 2020 and we were married on May 05, 2020. We then filed her I-485 on May 12th 2020,  so its been just over a year since we filed for her GC. Our Immigration Attorney is strongly advising that my wife have another physical done (I-693) before the interview next month to keep the interviewer happy. However when I read through the FAQ's for the I-693 form, it specifically states that for a K-1, another medical before a GC interview is only required when it was more than a year between her required K-1 oversees medical (which was done December 24th 2019) and the actual filing of the I-485 GC application, which as I said was filed May 12th 2020, only 5 months later. Any opinions or guidance on whether or not a new medical is a good idea? It wasn't our fault that it took the USCIS over a year from the I-485 filing to the GC interview. Thanks in advance.

USCIS says this

In 2018, USCIS revised its policy regarding the extent to which a Form I-693 retains its evidentiary value. This policy is effective November 1, 2018. Before November 1, 2018, the validity period policy provided Form I-693 retained its evidentiary value as long as it was submitted to USCIS within 1 year of the civil surgeon’s signature and USCIS issued a final decision on the underlying immigration benefit application within a year of the Form I-693’s submission to USCIS. This policy contained a maximum 2-year period during which Form I-693 retained its evidentiary value.

However, proof of vaccinations may be required

and always not,  a officer of immigration can ask for new medical if he/she deems it necessary /  with covid it could be needed

If you filed within a year of her medical (and you did),  the required vaccines are up to date, and her DS-3025 is marked as "complete"  she's good. Your attorney's advice could unnecessarily cost you quite a bit of money.

Thank you for all responses to my question.

I sent our Immigration Attorney a link to the I-693 FAQ's that I mentioned. About three hours later she responded by email and said that I was correct and that an additional physical was not needed after all. She did not thank me for catching her mistake or offer any kind of apology.

I just had my wife green card interview done today. We submitted a I-693 when we file the I-485 by mail. They didn't ask for another recent I-693 to be done

Why did you submit an i693 at all?

YMMV

My wife was missing one of vaccine requirement on the ds-3025 for AoS. The place she went to get the vaccine at ran out of the one of the vaccine. So she couldn’t get the one of the vaccine before the medical exam. Since she came on K1 visa the Doctor fill the form complete but was still missing a require vaccine for AoS.

So it was only on her immunization card. We did the I-693 which only cost us $55 to transfer it to the I-693.
