I'm a petitioner in the US and my fiance is in Hefei, China. The Guangzhou consulate just received my fiance's package with all the required materials that must be submitted prior to the interview. Now we are waiting for the consulate to schedule the interview itself. How long after the consulate receives the materials should we expect to be contacted for interview scheduling?

Are you sure the consulate schedules?  Typically interviews for k1s are scheduled by the applicant.

YMMV

I know the applicant schedules, but our understanding is the consulate needs to reply to her after she mailed back the pre-interview materials.

The best way to find out is to go to K-1 Immigration Timelines here on VJ, set the filter to China and see what other people are experiencing. If you look through the web browser on a computer it lets you see advanced options (such as packet 3 received, packet 3 sent etc). This way you can see how far out the interview is from the date you submit packet 3.

@powerpuff Thanks for the tip.  I didn't realize that the advanced filters were that "advanced"

I don't know if it makes any difference but my petitioner is in US and I am in Canada. I emailed them all our stuff first week of May and they scheduled for us (emailed us back a date)
