ok thank you, so they will also run lab tests or is that only if they think you require it?

for some tests they will draw blood. you can also get the lab tests done with your health insurance. all they want is lab test results.

In this context, the lab tests will be titers to test for (measure) antibody levels for the required vaccines.

And, any testing or procedures required by the civil surgeon are unlikely to be covered by your insurance.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I stand by what I said above. Civil surgeon fees, including labs, vaccines, exams etc are unlikely to be covered.   That is why people on VJ complain about the costs.

Actually, the civil surgeon we used put the entire exam through insurance, we didn't pay a fee.

Goes to show that it does not hurt to ask. It likely depends upon who you go to. Folks may also get the titers done separately as part of a yearly physical.

Very true.  We had the lab tests and vaccines done previously, except they wanted $300 for blood work for STD testing.  I asked if they could run the tests through insurance, and they put it all through, cost of exam included.

To add to the discussion, one MAY be able to have the vaccines reimbursed, IF the USC spouse has tax advantaged accounts such as an FSA, HSA (Flexible Spending Account / Health Savings Account / Health Reimbursement Account).

I’m currently going through my medical for the i693. Cost $450 for everything including lab work. Some places were charging $650 and I’m sure that other places were less. The place I chose worked out better because they were flexible with scheduling appointments (evening and weekends). I didn’t need any vaccinations because I had a copy of my prior vaccinations from my home country.
