Hello everybody,

A friend of mine got DV2022. he doesn't have high school degree rather he has technical baccalaureate i.e. sort of vocational degree (12 years of study) which is acceptable in my country to enter university - would this be acceptable to the CO noting that my friend has also Bachelor & Master degrees.

Another question - DS-260 question related to what occupation intend to work in the US? is it possible for him to answer "opening my own business"? will this increase his chance to get the visa noting that he can present some sort of Bank documents to CO for verification?

This will be at the discretion of the interviewing officer to decide. It should be ok if his university degrees are acceptable. Vocational high school by itself does not meet DV high school requirements.

The answer to the second question is not relevant to DV. He can put whatever he wants.

Thanks Susie for your quick reply. Appreciated!

If his technical baccalaureate will be assessed by WES and the equivalency section of WES report states that his diploma is equivalent to US high school Diploma (3 years), would this work? to my understanding the law spells that "At least a High School Education or its Equivalent" Means successful completion of at least (b) Formal course of elementary and secondary education comparable to completion of 12 years of elementary and secondary education in the United states.

Also it is clearly mentioned that Vocational degrees that are not considered a basis for further academic study will not be considered equivalent to United States high school education.

As mentioned before he has Vocational degree (12 years of study) which is acceptable in my country to enter to University.

His country embassy will understand the local education system and will know what is and isn’t acceptable. (If he interviews in a different country and they  are not sure about it they will contact the home country embassy to verify.)  I have never heard of anyone getting WES to evaluate for DV and I don’t even know if they would look at it.
