We got married on Sunday April 18,2021 with the KMA at our home. The certificate took 7 weeks and then when we received it the marriage date says APRIL 19,2021. THEY claim they don’t work on Sundays so the certificate date will be the 19th. I don’t know what to do now. They say this cannot be corrected.I’m filing I130 FOR MY HUSBAND. COUNTRY GHANA.

Where did the marriage take place? In some countries (like Taiwan), the legal marriage date is the day the marriage is recorded in the government agency.  Our "ceremony" took place 3 days before we registered our marriage, but our legal marriage date is the day it was registered in our Household Registration office.

It depends on the law there and how the certificate is worded.

Hi,

do you mind if i share the certificate with you? I am submitting application I130. I was married April 18 they registered it April 19. I wanna have all letters and receipts showing the 18th. I wanna write a letter get it notarized explaining what happened that in Ghana they don’t work on sundays so it shows the 19th. Or when it says what date we were married should i put 18th

Don't ever mention that you signed the marriage certificate at home, because you are not supposed to sign at home. You can tell them you had engagement on Sunday but signed in court on Monday or better still you got married on Sunday and signed in court on Monday

The KMA was present in our home that day! It was a traditional wedding. But I get it.

Yes, use what's on your marriage certificate.

It better you write the date on the certificate. Remember that KMA don't work on sundays when you did your traditional wedding. That's why they put Monday's date on the certificate as 19th. However, the certificate is showing that you are legally married by law. So it has nothing to do with their presence at the traditional ceremony on that sunday.

In my case for example, I did the court ceremony in Accra registrars office a day before my traditional wedding.
