Hmmmmm Gee where can I start... this is a little much to debate over VJ.

But lets start here..... How is it that before Columbus proved a spherical earth it was already in the bible written centuried before JOB 26:10.. ISAIAH 40:22, Proverbs 8:27

Back when man thought earth rest on the back of a turtle ..the bible knew depsite that JOB 26:7..the earth stands on nothing..it is suspended. A few years ago when Science discovered there is water above the earth... DUH..the bible already stated that in Gen 1. Gee is science late

Hmm how about the science of wind.. read Eccles 1:6 and the fact that the weight of wind is made by water ..look at Job 25:25.. How about when science thought they had an accurate account of the stars and not until the 1940's when the Hubble was invented did they were imeasurable. Hipparchus said there were only 1,022 stars. Ptolemy said there were 1,026. They are immeasurable..well no duh.. the bible says that already in Hebrews 11:12. Genesis 15:5 and Jerimiah 33:22.

The point is not for little me to prove the existence of my God, but can you prove he doesnt exist. There is a million times more evidence that shows his existence then your weak points that says he does not.. The thing with Christianity is just this...look at it yourself... decide for yourself. if you decide there is no God..gee I really hope your right..if not welll...there could be some problems. Me I choose the safe side

Nice try, but Columbus didn't discover America despite popular belief that he did. Give me dates and PROVE IT that the bible was written. You can't do that. You have to go on what your religion tells you is the dates. All of the theories about the earth and stars were just that until scientifically proven. You mean to tell me that you honestly believe no one else came up with a theory before the proof existed? I'm sure that those people were thought to be raving lunatics at that time, but now you are heralding them as profits of god because they ended up right. Don't believe everything you read... there were thousands of theories for everything before "discoverer" discovered something.

You were the one who said you could prove it in a court of law. I called you out and you then decide to post that it's not the point that you should prove it. My weak points? You need to take some more history and science classes before you start calling the proof offered from evolution wrong.

If believing in a god is what makes you sleep at night, then YAY for you. But do not push your brand of religion on me.

The bible wasn't written like that? Can you prove that the bible was not written by 2nd century Romans that attempted to control people with religion? Do you have actual proof that it was written while Jesus was around? If you do I'd be very interested in hearing it.

Can 2nd century Romans had known some of what we just discovered last year..hmmmmm

Plus 2nd century Romans had more reason to SUPPRESS (many emperors were heavily into self-worship and being/having official cults) the Bible than to write it; Constantine only "converted" in 391 AD.

You can't do that. You can't counter the question of "prove that your god exists" with "prove that he doesnt" that to me just tells me you don't have an answer. Where is all this proof that he exists? I'm not saying God doesn't exist. But when you say that there is proof... provide it or don't make that comment at all. Geez, I already had this discussion with someone else not too long ago.

And if you are going to provide that proof, please, no bible quotes. Remember, a non-christian doesn't necessarily take the bible as truth. So to quote the bible will be a waste of time.

well.. I think it'd depend on how the class is gonna be taught..

if it's taugh from an strict historical context, and how does the laws affected and are basis for our modern laws, or kinda like history channel documentaries on the bible.. then I think it's fine.. the Bible is indeed a very interesting book..

but if the class is 'and remember how Jesus Christ our savior helped us, and is calling sinners to repent' and all that #######.. then, I dont see the point

Well said. There certainly is value in teaching the Bible from a historical perspective.

However, if that was the intent, do you really think the Bible itself would be the central text? I think not.

The article said they would be "literature" classes, which means you would study the style of writing.

When it comes to the Bible, that's really all you can do with it, because you can't use it as a historical reference!

We were talking about bible accuracy..and I had mentioned somethings that shows of how accurate the bible is before man even figured it out.. What is this Egyptinan person name so I can reseach him myself, and even if he did say the earth is round so what, when was that was it before the bible was written..i dont think so..and even if it was I am going with popular thinking for the times. I have much more evidence like those above, I would give a few more if you are interest in a polite intellectual debate, and not an insult fest. But in no way will I attempt to prove the historical never ceaseing debate on God's existance on VJ

But this is a public forum, if you are going to make such a bold (and dare I say it... arrogant?) statement such as there is a lot more proof that God exists than not, and you aren't going to back it up.... what is the point of such a statement?

Gee..there is alot more evidence to prove Aliens dont exist, then God doesnt. Secondly my point is not that your failure to prove God's existance shoud lead you to beleive he does. My point is there is a lot more evidence to prove he does...everybody need to look at it and decide for yourself.
