The constitution and the precedent of the law in this country make it clear that my tax dollars can't be used to pay for anybody's Bible study...

... I decided that they were basing their entire religion on poorly translated pieces of text taken completely out of context. I also read the works of Flavius Josephus around that time and saw the discrepancies between his version of many things and the Bible version.

... Anything to try to control our kids and keep them from actually thinking!

So should my tax dollars be used to pay for the murder of children...or the transportation of school children across state lines to get an abortion without the permission of their parents. Their are many laws in this country that are warped. The bible is the most historically acurate book around. Those books you refer to..where did they get their information..and that source..where did they get their information..and that source etc. Many of the books we study are written by people who got info from people who got info from people. The bible on the other hand is not like that in the least. How do we know Columbus sailed this x time and land at point x. There was personal accounts and testimonies verifying this information, Kingdom records, Sailor testimony, Natvie American testimony etc. The bible is the most accurate book around and it can stand up in a court of law. Evidence demands a verdict. The most effective evidence is witnesses. What book has the most and more evidence confirming evidence. The bible. If every bible in the world it taken and burned, you will still have enough historical evidence in the form of ancient letters to put the bible together..such as someone writing someone and saying "Today Yeshua (Jesus) healed a blind man I know named Barteius" or " I was on the mountian today with x and heard Yeshua say Blessed are the meek..."

Thousands and thousand of evidence and accurate historical information.

I think it is great to have the bible taught in schools.

I think someone should check out the book Evidence demands A Verdict, by Joshua McDowell. This book was written by a scholar who traveled the world getting evidence to prove the bible was false becuase he couldn't stand Christianity and thought that it was for the weak. In all his travel and trying to disprove Christianity he becam a Christian and his book details many of the proofs he found

Best evidence (to me) was a bloody size-14 footprint in southern part of Chennai on Chinnamalai (transliteration of Tamil; meaning is "little hill") where Thomas died after being stabbed by Brahmans from the then-village of Triplicane (now a congested part in "practically downtown" Chennai). BTW, I saw the footprint FIVE YEARS AFTER I'd become Christian.

I sometimes wonder whether the whole point of passing this kind of ####### as law is to have someone challenge it and the courts subsequently sack it. Makes for a good background for those that cry about alleged Christian persecution in the US, doesn't it?

But lets start here..... How is it that before Columbus proved a spherical earth it was already in the bible written centuried before JOB 26:10.. ISAIAH 40:22, Proverbs 8:27

Back when man thought earth rest on the back of a turtle ..the bible knew depsite that JOB 26:7..the earth stands on nothing..it is suspended. A few years ago when Science discovered there is water above the earth... DUH..the bible already stated that in Gen 1. Gee is science late

Hmm how about the science of wind.. read Eccles 1:6 and the fact that the weight of wind is made by water ..look at Job 25:25.. How about when science thought they had an accurate account of the stars and not until the 1940's when the Hubble was invented did they were imeasurable. Hipparchus said there were only 1,022 stars. Ptolemy said there were 1,026. They are immeasurable..well no duh.. the bible says that already in Hebrews 11:12. Genesis 15:5 and Jerimiah 33:22.

The point is not for little me to prove the existence of my God, but can you prove he doesnt exist. There is a million times more evidence that shows his existence then your weak points that says he does not.. The thing with Christianity is just this...look at it yourself... decide for yourself. if you decide there is no God..gee I really hope your right..if not welll...there could be some problems. Me I choose the safe side

I do believe you're on to something Reinhard....ultra conservative christians love being persecuted, so they have something to shout from the pulpits and get the populace all riled up. AND I bet that infamous Westboro church will have a protest here in Georgia if things get scrapped. Now there's a "church" that thrives off scandal and protest.

Here I am going off on christians...I really don't mean to sound that way. My comments come from years of personal experience (none of which were pleasant), I know some use their religion as an excuse for all sorts of things, all sorts of mind altering statements...that sort of thing. It's left a rather bad feeling inside of me. Regardless....I feel that classes taught on the bible have NO place in the public school arena. This is why there are private christian schools. This is also why parents choose to homeschool.

Edit: Columbus DID NOT prove a spherical earth--this had been proven by an ancient Egyptian scholar (btw, the ancient Egyptians had also calculated the exact distance to the sun) who had heard of a village where "at noon the sun shone directly into the well"; checking it in his own village well, he found an angle. Visiting the other village and "reverse engineering", he calculated the polar circumfrence of the earth WITH AN ERROR OF 10 MILES.

You can't do that. You can't counter the question of "prove that your god exists" with "prove that he doesnt" that to me just tells me you don't have an answer. Where is all this proof that he exists? I'm not saying God doesn't exist. But when you say that there is proof... provide it or don't make that comment at all. Geez, I already had this discussion with someone else not too long ago.

And if you are going to provide that proof, please, no bible quotes. Remember, a non-christian doesn't necessarily take the bible as truth. So to quote the bible will be a waste of time.

The line of argumentation is weak. Your belief may very well be correct.

You can not convince someone to believe in something simply based on "what if you're wrong?". That does not an argument make.
