My parents have agreed to be our sponsors for my wife's visa. NVC reviewed the case and said that they don't qualify as joint sponsor and that I needed to instead add them as household members with declaration of support. (Probably because I have been living with them until last week)

Well, it has been 2 weeks and NVC still has "N/A" next to their names. Prior it only took a couple days to have them approved as sponsors to submit the case. Is this unusual? Should I try calling NVC

Thanks

Have you checked the actual requirements for someone to qualify as a household member?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I have. We meet those guidelines. On the tax returns we have, I am listed as their dependent and I have listed them as my parents to which I am dependent on. I don’t know why they wouldn’t have accepted my parents as joint sponsors, but simply said that they need to be classified as household members anyway. The problem is is that they haven’t been denied as household members, it’s just that it is taking a very long time and I don’t know why.

What did you submit after they were rejected as joint sponsors?

I added them as household members with their I-864A along with their signed declaration of support/relationship explanation.

Do you mean one I-864a each?

And you filled out a new 864 for yourself right?

Included proof of citizenship for parents?

If so it seems you have everything. Im not sure why it's taking longer than expected for them to review it besides normal workload reasons. Some Officers work slower than others. Some times second reviews take longer as you are put in a list to review again and there may be people ahead of you there.

Some times people have luck uploading an additional document as it seems to trigger a ping in the system but I don't know if that's true. Ringing a bell again when no one answers can help but also can make no difference.
